Word page numbering

Can't get the page numbering to work! Silly and simple but not working.

I need the number 1 on page four of the document. Anyone have any ideas? Am using Office '07, but can switch to word-mac or open office if they are easier.

Doesn't it have a facility "Start numbering from page x"?

It does, but it is not starting numbering at the page I want it to. My google searched haven't helped me much either. So annoying...
