Work at a fast paced environment?

Responding to threads like these whilst reviewing 2 different reports after a day filled with meetings - or and a "work crisis" thrown in for good measure. Typical day IOW.

What is it?

Generally in job ads it's just talk and it has lost it's meaning (in the same way every bug/issue coming from our test lab is mark as critical and is a "show stopper").

I believe our working environment is truly fast paced and it's all thanks to the client and our dev team's size. You have about 70 developers working on multiple streams of development on this one project alone with ridiculous and volatile deadlines and release dates. And when you get called at 3am on a Saturday morning still semi drunk from the previous night's partying and have to VPN in to fix production issues... you just know **** got real.

So there, when you work at a place and you can barely just hang on because of everything that is happening - then that is fast paced. Everything else is "sales talk".

"fast paced environment" is management speak for "nobody knows wtf is going on and we are in permanent crisis mode"

Double speak for we will ask you to make a change and once you've done it they have removed a wall that you want to support of in the mean time so you have to go back and rework everything before they switch the furnace on.
