Work Contract And Part-Time Work.

Hi guys,

Been working for the company for about 8 months now and my church has asked me to help them out in the IT dept. for a bit. Now in my contract it states that I must ask permission to take any part-time work. What do you guys usually do? Moon-light? lol. If so, are you moon-lighting in the same industry?

On a more personal note I've decided to speak to my manager about it and be very transparent as I really love my job .

Unless it's in direct competition to your main employment, either taking up time you should be spending on your primary job or working for a competing company, they can't enforce that requirement. They're largely covering themselves by potentially having an easy out rather than being expected to prove your additional work conflicted with your employment. In the real world they'd actually have to prove that anyway.
