Exactly. See post #12 - no way of getting rid of them (to put it nastily).

Agree. Labour policies are the biggie for me and companies not being able to get rid of staff when they really need to.

Load of bollocks actually...
Its VERY easy to get rid of staff, its a process yes but not a difficult one.
Very easy in a large corporation with it's own HR and legal teams that can be dedicated to such nuisance. And even they clearly have massive headaches as we read in articles all the time. Even government can barely terminate complete morons and these things drag on for months with high costs.
If they do something big wrong, sure. If they're just generally useless. It is a bit harder, requires time and admin.Load of bollocks actually...

That's not even the point. Even if you can fire someone easily, there's just no valuable thing that they can do for R20/h, or more because you still need someone to babysit them.Exactly. See post #12 - no way of getting rid of them (to put it nastily).
There's also the slight issue of it being a crime against humanity if you want your business to be a meritocracy capable of competing with the rest of the world.

Requires time and admin yes, but its not impossible to dismiss poor performing individuals, so long as you HAVE a process and follow it.
So not "VERY easy" at all then.
The two of you are on opposite extremes. Maumau days 'impossible' and you say 'very easy'.
Neither is accurate. Truth is: Labour policies in SA including termination are very restrictive as confirmed by international experts.
So the truth is somewhere in between and it definitely leans towards difficult.
Its easy, if you have a policy and follow it....
Regardless of how you want to paint the picture, our labour laws do not make firing or disciplining people difficult, they just have requirements which most companies seem to try and ignore and when they do then it gets very difficult for them.

A minimum wage in the US is $7,25 per hour (R106).
