The fake leather around the gear stick has lost all it's "skin" at the top section, but looks good around handbrake.Just out of interest, have you replaced the O2 sensor yet? I had to replace mine at about 120,000km. Also, have the fake leather around the gear stick and handbrake started to break up? Seems to be a classic Opel thing...
Oh, the car I am talking about is a 2001 Astra G 1.6 16v.
I've only had the car a short while, and haven't seen the need to replace the O2 sensor yet - I haven't done an accurate fuel consumption check yet, but it doesn't appear to be very heavy on fuel.
With the engine running too cool (thermostat stuck wide open) won't help the fuel economy.
I'm surprised by at the number of technical people I know that suggest throwing out the thermostat.
