It may take several years (or decades as with most other similar experiments) to comprehend any of the findings though.

That is so true. Its not what they will find out tommorow, but what they find out that will change future science. When the electron was first discovered they said it would never ever effect us because it was to small and we would never be able to use it.

And yet.. now when everyone biatches about load shedding its all because of the little electron that we now take for granted and cant live without as its become part of everything we do.

The aim is that the higgs will one day do the same for furture generations as the electron has done for us.
