Proud to be South African . . .

"perception" being the operative word it seems. I am surprised at some of those below (and a few above) us.

At least we the highest in the ranks of teh BRICs country... maybe we are following in their footsteps

With the protection of corruption act, you can expect that we are going to be losing ranks very fast.

What I found very bothersome with South Africa is the consistency in going down the ranks :( and even worse, the downwards move is accelerating!

Between the anties here we are missing the point ne. It cant be America is to low or at least we are not Afghanistan. Seriously. I do not care about those countries, I have to live in corruption central. As SoWhat is saying. The pace At which we are moving is alarming.

How can they say North Korea is corrupt? Just because it's a terrible dictatorship is not the same thing as corrupt.

Try bribing a Cop there with $6 (R50) and see how far you come

So their police-force is paid properly.. okay. Politicians and govt are still massively corrupt. And just because it's corporate corruption doesn't make it any better.

They just know how to cover their tracks better than most

SA is 95% corrupt thanks to the Government, sigh.

The public make their contribution as well. They are ones who pay the bribes to the government. Not to mention the culture of general thievery and music/software piracy.
