World is over the PC: former Microsoft exec

What's this guy smoking? How is the whole finance department of a massive company gonna do their work in SAP on a tablet?
If the price is right I'm sure SAP can organize that too. ;)

Totally offtopic: Which fool decided that business line laptops don't need a built-in num pad? Its killing me right now...

And if it evolves, I don`t care what they call it, as long as it can have a mouse, keyboard and multiple screens.

That's very interesting given that people aren't buying as many PCs anymore. Hope that is an indication that software developers are beginning to use better code rather than increasing hardware power, it could also be contributed to the green movement, everything from cars to electrical devices are becoming more conscious of consumption over power.

I tried the iPad 2 and I won't be going back to any tablet anytime soon. Sold it and that was the most wise decision I've made in a while. I still had to depend on my Dell Laptop for all my downloads i.e. movies, Lars Behrenroth Deeper Shades House music and a hell lot of other stuff. Tablets are great for surfing the net, reading books, emails and pictures, for everything else PC is the ultimate winner

That is not because of the tech, more because of the user trying to stay true to the old ways of doing things.

When I want to download torrents I just paste the link to my D-link NAS that downloads the media for me, this can be done via my Android or iOS tablet, and for consumption I can either use my media PC with XBMC to play it, or use DLNA streaming to play it directly on my Samsung TV or on the tablets. That is if I dont download the torrent directly onto my Android Tablet, which is something I sometimes do when I am not at home and just copy it back onto my NAS when I am in WiFi range.

With things like Ubuntu on Android seen in action here and being able to code directly on Android with an IDE as seen here makes the gap even smaller.

Expect the Window 8 tablets to do more of the same.

The days of the mouse are numbered with touch becoming the norm. Games will quickly adapt. Keyboard may be substituted by a combination of motion for movement and voice for commands - if people ever get over their shyness to talk to machines. I hope devices like the Kinect and Playstation Move are adopted more widely.

Multiple screens is already a possibility with Mac Air.

All and all exciting times for gaming lying ahead.

There is a SAP client for iPad AFAIK, haven't tested it but at another company (can't mention the name) I know they've bought the directors iPads purely to do releases on the weekend.

I'm sorry but without tactile feedback using onscreen controls are rubbish.

I think that is part of Microsofts plan, if you see how most of windows 8 is gesture based its not such a large jump to the next level. For one most of the new devices start coming with front facing camer's. As mentioned here

Ubuntu is having the same plans but just with voice guided as a primary goal. As mentioned here

There are more sources on the info above, if you go Googling you will find them. Oh and I forgot to mention on my previous post that Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 will be using the same kernel making it possible to move in the same direction as Ubuntu on Android, and that is to make the PC, more Personal aka carry your computer with you.

I'm not talking about onscreen controls. Objects that you can interact with, sure. Controls, like I said, will likely go the direction of motion sensing whether it's device movement or camera, like Playstation move or Kinect.
