30 meters? It'd be quicker to send a pigeon with a flash drive.

Seriously though, if you're laying new infrastructure and deploying equipment all the way up to 30m away from your end user, is running a 30m piece of fiber REALLY such a big issue? And that's the problem. This is geared towards existing copper networks but even 100 meters is a bit optimistic for most local loops. This won't really take off but I could see it sparking an alternative for fibre ethernet.

Indeed. The point is, it's going to cost MILLIONS to revamp the infrastructure to get that 10gbit backbone capacity 30m from the client, installing that last $75 piece of fiber is nothing. I just think that these guys are like the last making super fast horse carts, just as Henry Ford was starting to roll Model T's off the production line.

Fiber really isn't difficult to install. Anyone with rudimentary knowledge of hammers n stuff can do it. Just like running a wire.

And all I want for christmas is a stable 10Mb dsl.

I nearly jumped up and got exited, but then I realized that in reality we can't even get 10 meg (yes I generalize deliberately) :cry:
