Worn brake pads and roadworthiness

Would you guys say that a car with brake pads (one side from what I could see) worn down to the last mm of pad and to the point where the metal to metal sound audible is roadworthy?

Also, as part of a std service from a Ford dealer would this be checked by default and owner be notified?

No its not roadworthy it would fail the brake test.. and as part of a std service they should be checked

They meant to replace them a lot sooner. At around 4 mm I think.

Roadworthy is as long as it's not metal to metal, but braking force is tested as well.

I've just replaced all 4 pads before getting my COR - there is no point in buggering around with that sort of safety.

All 4 cost me just on 700

yeah I know it is cheap, just slightly pissed off that our fleet manager has not had anything done re this.
I suspect a warning was issued by the dealer but it was ignored to save money...

You'd be surprised what gets though a roadworthy test, provided the car actually goes through the test itself and not just gets the certificate issued...

Some minor things can/do get overlooked. But a brake test isn't one of them.

Brakes are not one thing that gets overlooked.

I've recently done a COR, the brake test was the first thing they did.
