Worst Car Dealerships

Name, shame and provide a reason why they are bad.

Hyundai Centurion - Salesman and FI officer could not provide a detailed financial quote. Salesmen patronises customer when asking for one by re-reading email and hangs up phone when I recall my offer to purchase. Also FI officer could not even provide what the interest rate will be on car loan. I got a detailed financial quote straight away from Mazda dealership in Centurion.

Zeda Avis Rivonia - Sent through documents to purchase car. Salesman says that they will send docs to Financial manager for loan approval. I receive a call the next day to say that the car was purchased in cash before documents were sent through. If that was the case then why were my documents processed?

shame on you dude.

Hyundai Helderberg (Somerset West):

* telling us the colour of the car my wife wanted was not available in SA yet her brother found half a dozen of them at a small dealership in MP
* trying to rip us off when servicing our Atos with them
* not telling us that we had to reprogram all our keys when we had a duplicate made by them (so was a double charge)
* not phoning as promised to arrange test drive in Feb to buy new car
* entire staff ignoring me while trying to buy a new car at branch when I went in-store Feb.

Needless to say we do not support them but instead go to Stellies where we have experienced the complete opposite.

It's easy to handle these situations guys.

DP... no... not double penetration. Dealer Principle. The dude in charge. The head-honcho. Whenever a branch gives me **** I ask to speak to the DP. He sorts this crap out. Because is sales/service isn't doing their job, he's not running at full profitability and he then needs to start firing people who doesn't pull their weight.

If the DP is an ******* (I don't even bother with the sales/service manager, they're glorified floor guys also looking to score commission anyway), I go to the regional manager. Problems usually stop there, but I had had to once speak to the director of regional operations at head offices.

**** rolls downhill guys. Don't take flak from employees who don't give a **** about their jobs and that are rude douchebag *******s

Investment Cars Bryanston

* Selling a car at 15% premium over other models, flat out refusing to see if they could drop a few percent and telling me to rather buy the car elsewhere

* Giving false information on the previous owner

* Not offering any assistance when a discrepancy is picked up to ease my mind ; only a 'I told you what it is' attitude

* After taking a valuation my vehicle, not contacting to give the figure - until 3 days later I walk into the dealership and ask 'Do you mind giving me a figure so we can perhaps move on?!'

* Not faxing any finance documents after promising the will be done by end of day.

* In the end determined car has been in a frontal smash and claiming they didn't know. This could or could not be true - but it took a matter of minutes for them to pull find out when it was pointed out a few issues

I basically felt that they were doing me a favour by selling me a damaged car at a premium - and I was begging to buy it and pleading for the deal. Glad I walked away (thanks MyBB!)

Hyundai Centurion - o yes I also experienced their premium customer service. My wife walked in and wanted to buy an IX35. Took a test drive and was happy, moved along to order the model, check finances, etc.

The sales guy caught wind that my wife wasn't too clued up how much the stuff costs. When we first went to see them I told him exactly what model and what extras to put on the vehicle. Luckily just before she signed, I asked my wife to forward me final cost breakdown so I can check it. Sales guy didn't want to email it to me, but I live just around the corner so went physically to get the paperwork. Ends up the little boef put on 30K worth of extras on the car and tried to sneak it through without me noticing.

Stopped it there and then, and ended up buying a VW :P

For me DP is just a tosser trying to impress others with a title - you find a principle in a school! The Somerset West DP anyway does not care and this has been confirmed by a dozen friends. Not even numerious emails to the tosser deluxe got even a reply.

So sod the DP and his w@nk of a title and vote with your feet.

Kia Randburg - took forever to get these guys to sell me a damn car, then find out when wife gets a flat that they didn't include the correct tools for changing the wheels, called them multiple times and left messages for sales person and manager, they don't return calls.

Kia Tableview - tried to sell me an accident damaged vehicle as accident free, went so far as to sending it to a test center of their choice where it came back as perfect, tyres all above 5mm+ and no body work. I insisted it go to Dekra for a proper test, came back with tyres of 2mm+ - and multiple panels resprayed at the back and side.

Guess what I won't be buying again.

Gotta add CMH Datcentre Nissan PMB-KZN to this list

Bought a new car from them. It was dleivered with a spare tire/rim that was seriously kerbed. Rim and tire was a throw away. Broken side was facing down in the boot. So we would not see the damage. Yes they polished the side facing up.

1. Salesmans clearly signed the customer portion of the delivery note.

2. Dealer principle has promised a full refund, but months later this is clearly not going to happen.

Stay clear of this dealership.

RENAULT PINETOWN

I have attempted to resolve this with the previous dealer principal, Mike Steyn; the new dealer principal as the previous one quit will trying to resolve, Janene Beattie; Renault "Customer Care" (who said I must deal with the franchise) and the motor industry Ombud (who is useless as they never even bother to respond to your complaint).

My story. Car in for full service. Told them about a squeal from the engine compartment especially when turning. Got a call saying they have found the issue, it is the aircon compressor. I questioned this as the aircon had just been serviced a month before at Cannon Cool. Asked how much to repair, they claimed R6k. Asked if it was critical, they said no, at worst your aircon will stop working. Told them not to bother at the time as I'd query with Cannon Cool why they never picked it up. Service completed. Car returned. Cost R2,904.

Took car to Cannon Cool and they confirmed there was nothing wrong with the aircon. Contacted Renault Pinetown again and asked that they take another look at my car as it was not the aircon. They sorted out some other issues (brake light that hadn't been fixed etc) and called to say I can pick up the car. They claimed once again that it was the aircon compressor. Left it again as I know it was not.

Drove to Jhb a few days later. Car made it to Jhb and then engine starting clanking and I broke down. Car towed to Renault Bryanston. They confirmed a broken pulley and some other damage caused by the pulley breaking. Cost R3977.

On return to Durban I went to Renault Pinetown to complain about their misdiagnosis of the squeal and request that they credit me, not for the cost of the parts which I reasoned would have arisen anyway, but the labour I had to pay at Bryanston for the additional work required as a result of their oversight. They wiped their hands of it and said it is not their problem after initially ignoring all requests. I was not asking for a refund, I was not asking for reimbursement of the towing costs, inconvenience of having no vehicle while in Jhb, or anything else, just the labour cost of R1880 on the Bryanston invoice!

Avoid Renault Pinetown at all costs!

Why would I want to deal with a company for which I have to do all the leg work to fix their problems?

No, I simply go somewhere else where there aren't any of these issues.

BASIL GREEN FORD - EDENVALE

Not only did it take 3days to service my car, but I had to eventually go past there on a Saturday morning to find out what was happening. When I got there my car was apparently ready so they got the paper work together (the R7k invoice for a major service), then they tell me if they knew I was coming to collect it they would have had it washed! Yes, after R7k for a service they 1) did not even have the car washed, 2) apparently I should have let them know I was coming to fetch the car even though they did not let me know it was 'ready'?? 3) when I checked the car in I told them one of the park lights wasn't working so they put it on the invoice but in fact it was not fixed! 4) while waiting for them to prep the invoice I went to check the new focus in the showroom - standing around for 5minutes, no sales person to be found.

Joke of a dealership, only their parts department is worth anything.

-Tried to replace brake pads that clearly had another 10 000km in them.
-Took 3 months to repair my radio which could not play brand new CDs. My radio is still not functioning.

Audi Fourways
-Employee crashed a customer's RS6 while racing the neighboring Fourways VW mechanic (driving a customer's GTI)
-Replaced waterpump twice in 2 years.
-Refused to fix cooling issues while my car was under motorplan.

Audi Northcliff
-Wanted to replace my non faulty water pump for an apparent leaking (R5.00) seal. 6 Months later, the car is still fine, no water leaking and I did not replace the pump. This was clearly a scam.
-Wanted to replace my discs. I measured my discs somewhere else, and they were just fine with no replacement required.
-Wanted to replace my cam belt, which was replaced with my previous service (15 000 kn earlier)
-Recently wrote off a customer's cabriolet and did not want to take responsibility for the crash.

Audi SOUTH AFRICA
-Does not answer emails.
-Does not answer phones
-Cannot tell you what they replaced on your car, no matter that you paid an absolute fortune to fix it.
