..............And although telskommel's speed test shows faster speed, buggerall subjective increase in speed in any protocol. And no real improvement in overseas speed tests................

Was it worth upgrading? Time will tell.

I doub't. Telkom show improvement in HTTP download speed with it's ""accelerated unshaped"" local test facility (I smell a con in the making). With real Jpeg file downloading in HTML or FTP the overseas bandwitdh remained on average the same as I got with tests on ADSL512, only some sites shows a improved bandwidth up to a similar speed as Telkom at certain times. If this translates in a performance increase in reality is difficult to say.... A test script is in demand where the script can run on a pc with automated testing of specific sites and various content to establish true average results.........The shaping I think is the problem and limiting factor. It is not optimised to take the higher rated account in consideration I think.... I have done lots of tweaking recently in vain as I can get high peaks for short durations and then the speed slows down gradually to the same level of 350 kbps on a ADSL1024 account (shaping coming into play???). HAd some success though .... need some international comparison tests (scarse on this forum)

I wish Telkom would read these forums and comment................

The problem with a "best effort service" is that the provider does not have to provide anything.
Teklom probably want you to purchase 2 x 512 lines for true 1024 - ROFL - *Puke*.

i am really enjoying 1o24 dsl. Browsing i find is alot faster. been getting 100 kb/sec on local torrents using a webafrica account!

1mb adsl = useless.

512k adsl = useless

384 and 192, while still useless are better.

Ask yourself, with a 3GB cap how much of the 1mb line are you going to benefit from?

I don’t see the point in this service. It looks like ADSL is purely for http surfing. For this dial-up or at the best 192 ADSL would be more than enough. Why 1024 at the price? So now comparing dial up to ADSL what have I gained, always connected internet “WOW”. :p

Not even always connected, since your connection is reset every day, and, if teklom carries through their intentions, twice a day! So, hosting is still out!
