Howzit,

im currently sitting with a AMD Phenom 9950 BE.
My mobo can support:

AMD Phenom™ II X4 x945 3000Mhz 4000Mhz 95W
AMD Phenom™ II X4 940 3000Mhz 4000Mhz 125W
AMD Phenom™ II X4 925 2800Mhz 3600Mhz 95W
AMD Phenom™ II X4 920 2800Mhz 4000Mhz 125W
AMD Phenom™ II X4 910 2600Mhz 3600Mhz 95W
AMD Phenom™ II X4 905e 2500Mhz 4000Mhz 65W
AMD Phenom™ II X4 900e 2400Mhz 4000Mhz 65W
AMD Phenom™ II X4 810 2600Mhz 4000Mhz 95W
AMD Phenom™ II X4 805 2500Mhz 4000Mhz 95W

I see the 945 is currently going for +- R1600
What would you guys recommend as a good upgrade, maybe going for a 940, 925 is better bang for buck?

I'd say look at the 955BE it's R1641 from rebeltech
So with it being the Black edition, you have the choice to easily over clock it!

Next point is, what mobo do you have? surely your mobo can support the new six core? If it's within your price range, you should maybe look at it for R2130 from rebeltech again :)

If you don't really need the extra cores then save some money and get the 955BE. IT is identical to the 965BE just with a lower clock speed, which you can easily bump up :)

Nah not really looking to OC. Might do it on the 955 just bump it up a little maybe 100/200mhz.
Just emailed the biostar support so will see what they say about the cpu

guess i cant get a 955 :(

"No, because that CPU requires a dual power plane design. Your motherboard is only single power plane."

Why not wait for the X6 (i think ur board can support it with a bios update, i might be very wrong tho :P)

lol, i barely use 4 cores, what am i gonna do with 6 :p

Its mainly for games/browsing/movies. Guess ill hang onto my chip for a bit longer and get more monies for a better upgrade
