So I've been reading all over and asking tons of questions and I think that I have finally narrowed my new build down to one of two setups, first off there is what I have selected myself (with lots of advice):

Antec lifestyle series sonata3 - earthwatts 500watt , piano blac
Asus M3A78-EM , support new upcoming 140W Powered CPU

Samsung 2333SW, glossy black, 23" Wide + MagicBright3 + MagicTune
LG GH22LP20 , 22x , Lightscribe , black+beige bezel , support Sec
Total: R 15,698

And then there is a prebuilt system over at PCint, Warrior PC:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.8Ghz CPU (12MB Cache)
Asus P5Q MB w/ Intel P45 Performance chipset
4GB DDR2-1066 RAM-Kingston Hyper X
1TB(1000GB) SATA II- 7200RPM HDD (3Gb/s- 32MB Cache)

Raidmax Gaming Case w/ 650W PSU
DVD Writer 22x/12x SATA Dual Layer (8.5GB)
Onboard 8 Channel Sound
Geforce 9800GTX 512MB DDR3 VGA Card
23" Wide Samsung LCD TFT Monitor (2333SW)
Gbe Lan
Logitech 1500 Rechargeable Wireless KB & Mouse Set
Logitech 5.1 Speakers (5 Satellites + Sub ) X-540
Total: R 14,819

Before I ask which one is the best here is some info about my circumstances:
I won't be changing much in the next two years
System is used for gaming and a lot of work I do at home
Wife also uses system and may actually damage something if she gets agitated with waiting
If all goes well I will place the order by the end of next week

So, which of the two do I go for?

If you do read this Postman I would appreciate it if you could send me your quotes again on these specs.

Option 2 no question, just pay in the difference for a 4870.. or if you can tough it out, wait for the 4890, only a month or 2 away..

IMO, don't buy a PC. Buy into a hobby. I bought a motorcycle and haven't touched my PC in months.

Looks like a mean rig, though.

Hehe, sound advice, but unfortunately I do need to get a PC that is going to last because I do work from home and my laptop has moved onto a better place...

Option 2.

They'll easily upgrade your 9800GTX to whatever you want to too.
Maybe you can swop the 9800GTX + Wireless KB+Mouse for a 4870. :)

Enjoy your rig!

The Q9550 is an awesome CPU, and with that mobo your can easily run it @ 3.5GHz all the time.

So far it seems that option 2 is the better choice...anyone have opinions about PC International to add?

Yes i do they are dirt cheap :p

Option 2 but just get a 4870 with 1gb of ram if you can

HD 4870 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E DUAL DVI-I / TVOďż˝ RETAIL R 2,999 pc int

I regret buying my 9800gx2 purely because it only has 512 ram on it :(

Emailed them through a query to them to check if they can make the changes...will now have to wait and see, they didn't respond to previous mails.

Phone them or go there..

Emails and a lot of businesses in SA are not compatible..

Did give them a call and it seems to check out, i can get a Sapphire 4870 (need to confirm the memory but the card listed on their site is 1GB) without paying anything additional

NICE!!!!!!!

Apart from some bias it seems like I'm going with option 2, anyone else have some final input?
