Hi Guys,
At the moment I am on a 4mb/s line at my home, after a battle and a half with the big blue and my ISP.
I feel 8mb/s is still too slow, seeing as Netflix and Showmax services are available in SA now.
I did a check on my exchange box and it gives me mixed signals(excuse the pun)
the result from, "http://www.broadbandstats.co.za/search/phone/" gives me the following results.
ADSL Max Speed : 4096kb/s
10Mbps Enabled : Yes
My exchange : http://www.broadbandstats.co.za/exchange/TFGN02
The adsl max speed is correct at the moment, but I am not sure if I would be able to go 8mb/s my ISP can not give me a straight answer on what my max speed would be...they also come back with 4096...now not sure if their support is correct or not or if I am being a complete tool with this.
But when I use this calculator, http://www.speedguide.net/dsl_speed_calc.php, to calculate my potential max speed, adding the correct noise I am experiencing and also my attenuation(from my router), I seem to be able to get to 7987kb/s.
Close enough to 8192kb/s
Now I can easily upgrade to 8mb/s, but then I will pay the rest of the month for a line that is double of what I am actually using as per my ISP's rules...so what to do?
Regards
Pieter
