Just wondering if people want a change after ownership - or they'd actually buy the same car as they've just had?

I was thinking about my next (realistic) car and thought I'd rather keep my current, than paying and simply just getting a newer model/different colour of the same thing!
 
I would buy a slightly bigger car (practical reasons).

You know what you have. Even buying a newer version with less milage might end up being nothing but a headache. If you need to sell your car because it's giving you "age" problems then yes go for it. If not rather keep it till you need to replace is because it's becoming more of an expense than you would pay on a car repayment.

I'd buy another Volvo - but I think buying the same car just ... boring. Imagine going to collect a red version of your car and know you're paying to drive the same thing for another 4 years?

It's not a real situation as such - just thought about it wondered who'd do it.

We've got a guy who bought the SAME Toyota Hilux as he had before - even the same colour. I just find that ... boring

* EDIT : I new model is alright though, IMO

I agree. I love my car, and will keep driving it until maintenance on it becomes expensive enough to warrant a new one. At the moment I'd consider the new model of what I have in any case. 2007 Polo 1.9TDI.

Well a mate of mine wanted to sell his S40, saw what he'd get for it and then decided to just get an S60, Volvo seem to be very trade-in friendly with their own cars. Just as well the Volvo range is nice/interesting enough to do that.
 
I would definitely buy another Audi. Probably the Q5 or Q7 next time :p
 
I have a 2008 seat with relatively low mileage so not likely to ever have that option in SA. The closest new equivalent is probably the polo gti and yes that's very nice, but at R262k without even a service plan I'm not likely to be buying a new car again any time soon.
 
No i wouldnt! - its 1 of the reasons i didnt upgrade my honda civic to the type r . i know its not the the same enigine and but the shape is basicaly the same. so ended up with getting a S2000 :)

Yea - their resale is horrible ... but it helps when you buy the car used ;)

The new S60 is great - especially the T6. It's deceptivly quick actually ...

It may be a little old for me though :/

Yea - same brand ... but the same type as you have? I would be depressed buying another C30 in a different colour :/

Dolby, you have to remember, Toyota drivers are the most boring people in the world. I bet the hilux was white?
 
I would stick to the same type of car if there was enough to keep me interested in that specific model. I drive a 2003 accord type s, would defnitely get the 2010/2011 accord when thus one is paid off. exterior-wise, its similar enough to see its from the same family, but then again also looks different enough as well. newer interior is far nicer and much different than mine.Should keep me happy for another 5 years or so ...
 
Ill buy the same type of car again, same manufacturer, same colour, same interior, different model :)
