I don't think robots will ever be able to have a relationship with a human.
Right now, they are too stupid to have any sort of free will. Hence it will simply do whatever you say. That would be fun for a bit, but eventually it will get boring.

However, if machines do become intelligent enough to have free will, they probably won't want to have a relationship with a creature that is significantly more stupid than they are. It would be as boring for them as having a conversation with the Discovery chat bot is for us.
