While riding around one day my dad and I saw a Bently cont. GT and there I was admiring the car when my dad said...

"I'd be too embarrassed to ride around in a car like that"

... but then i thought maybe I'd be too, maybe my dad's just jealous but seriously would you ride around in 1mil+ car that isnt a high range Merc/BMW/Land Rover etc.

Talking about an exotic car here.

I'd be scared shi&less. But I would like it now-and-again in controlled circumstances.

I wouldn't mind a 911 as a daily drive! A Ferrari? Not a chance. Ditto for a Lamborghini. They're just too unreliable and rush-hour traffic would kill your clutch. That is if the thing doesn't overheat.

Perhaps just for an early weekend drive around sunrise and get it back home and parked when the rush gets started on the roads again.

Everyday use, couldn't see that happening.

Embarrassed of what? I don't understand. Was he saying it's an ugly car?

You can afford a Ferrari or Lamborghini but you sit in rush hour traffic every day at a regular old 8-5 job? I would think that generally speaking, by the time you can drop the cash on something like that, you're probably doing something that affords you a little more flexibility. If not, you probably shouldn't be making that kind of purchase (financial-priorities-wise).

would love it

Likewise. Provided I've earned the money to afford it honestly, I'd love a Ferrari or Lamborghini.

If you can't afford to ding it a bit then don't buy/drive it... So yes, If I had one I'd drive it. A lot of supercars are quite an effort to drive and are quite hard etc so I'd probably get an S class or something for the rest of the time.

The question is really simple. Its about choice.

Do I choose to drive an old car all day everywhere? or Do I enjoy what life is offering me?

You mean the excess of life? You don't have to drive an old car you know.

Yes they are pretty and desirable but if I had the money I don't think I would buy one.

nah! Id never buy an exotic ...

Except if it had orange wheels ;)

why? As a kid i loved cars and that love did not die down. I am still a kid when it comes to cars. The funny thing is I was not as fortunate as most to have daddy buy me a model car every month. So i looked forward to the matchbox car i received once a year on my bday :) ... Heck i even negotiated exchanging my matchbox cars with some friends 1:18 scale models and they agreed :) only to have my mom scold me and exchange it back. So its like i own the real toy now ;) ... In my eyes it is really a toy .....And trust me they soooo much fun ;)

Nope...

I would probably feel like a tosser/poser in all honesty.

but I think this is what he was thinking^

Yep I think I'd also feel like a tosser... when you're standing at a robot and somebody asks for money and you say "sorry nothing today" everyone else at the robots going to be thinking "bullsh###t!"

So my next question is... what do you think is the most acceptable expensive car to drive.

usually rich people tend to keep their money on credit cards and diner club cards...

I would never drive with more than a R100 rand in my wallet...
