Would you pay monthly for a non-instance based Guild Wars?

So would you? I think the biggest thing giong for Guild Wars is the fact that it is a once off payment. In saying that due to this there would be no ways that they could maintain it without making it insance based and this is also the games biggest weakness (imo). GW kills WoW for graphics (again imo) but WoW, being a true MMORPG will always have the upper hand in regards to it's scale.

I think I would infact pay for GW monthly, it hurts because I have always dis-liked WoW because of this very fact.

Yip

When GW came out, I cancelled my WoW account and got a copy of GW and couldn't wait to start playing without the damn monthly expense.

When I logged on all seemed well, lots of people running around but when I left the town I couldn't understand why on earth the world was so damn empty, playing WoW im used to bumping into people all the time, finding people doing the same quests as me and grouping with them, and even occasionally getting into pvp fights with the other faction in my questing area's.

But the world of GW was lifeless, it felt like I was on a ghost server. Instance based games are as far from MMORPG's as it gets, in my opinon GW is game where 90% of the time you are hanging out with no more then the few people in your group.

As you can guess im playing WoW again....

Some people see the instancing as a plus but, honestly, it would be awesome to have an 'open' chapter in the game. The instancing has its place but if it is the only option it does get rather boring after a while.

I'd pay for non instanced, so long as they aren't ripping our rings out.

For GW yes, i prefer the gameplay any day to WoW. For WoW, ehh... trying to palm off my account

I find it so hard to believe that there are really people out there that have played WoW and GW extensively that can honestly tell me WoW is not the better game.

If WoW was free and you had to pay for GW, there wouldn't be a single person on a GW server.

Even though WoW is $15 a month and GW is free, there are literally millions more playing WoW. Do the maths....

My reason for liking GW more than WoW is rather simple. I was always more of a Diablo fan than a Warcraft fan. Storylines, gameplay etc. I know WoW, particularly, is a far cry from classic Warcraft gameplay but I'm still sold on the more Diablo styled 'RPG'.

Theres also a lot less lag with GW because of the instance based, I know of some people playing the game on a gprs connection

I switched over to WoW about a month ago after I got bored with GW. Loving it so far. The only thing that GW has going for it is the graphics and no subscription. But to be honest, R290 every two months for WoW is nothing.

I love the updates, the adding of new content, coming across someone in the middle of nowhere and grouping to do a quest.

It's not maths or who plays what. Its the gaming style itself. Like the spinach man I was a D2 junkie ;)

Also everyone is doing emo, and that don't make emo right does it :P

:o How can you say that. Emo is the way forward young lad. I am already starting my sub genres poem-emo, sobbing-emo, crying-emo, my-mom-beat-me-emo and my personal favourite suicide-emo (aka lemming-emo).

er, probably, of course I will pay for a non-instanced GW, by all means! :D
Interesting question actually.
The architecture will have to change, no doubt. No more playing on just any server you want.... for instance.

I think certain elements would have to change and some should stay the same. Primary missions should be instance based, I am not sure how this could be achieved though.

According to this, GW2:cool: is going to achieve exactlly that.:D

So in Guild Wars 2 its both persistence and instancing. The big, over world will be persistent, but when you go into missions and dungeons it will be instanced.
