Guys, I received communication from Blizzard on the Emulator issue. It is illegal and we cannot allow posts advertising emulators. I do however understand the local pressures steering local gamers towards emulators like this. :)

Please don't post the links on the forum. Discussing emulators in general will however be allowed. Same as with p2p. References to specific locations will be removed, but general banter on the topic is fine.

Hope you understand.

Regards

Have you actually read the EULA (End User License Agreement) when you installed the WOW client ???.

It states that you are LICENSED (yes you do not "own" the software or the content) to use their client only with a Blizzard approved server.

Also if it was so legal ... why would they regularly shut down emulator groups ... perhaps because the law is on their side ???.

Heard of something called intellectual property rights and copyright laws. emulating a wow server is like copying a movie and making it available at a poorer quality.

However, I do understand that some South africans feel that it is unfair that Blizzard won't start a official SA wow server and is in a way depriving SA players (who don't feel like spending R550-R750/month for DSL) of experiencing the game.

In contradiction to the legality of the emulated wow servers being illegal, one can say it's only really illegal if some1 makes a profit off somelse's efforts (note that no consideration is being charged for these EMU wow servers) and one can say it is illegal to "use" some1 else's product in a country where it is being distrbuted/used (which is not SA).

In conclusion, please treat these emu servers as a sample of wow and go buy the original to support blizzard so that say may continue to make gr8 games such as this one AND don't say the game sux if u haven't played on a legitimate Blizzard server coz the game expreience is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!!!
