Does anyone know what the average latency on a 384k line should be?

I'm getting a latency of just over 6000 at the moment which is just nigh on TEN times what I was getting on iBurst...

Isn't ADSL supposed to be quicker???

I'm with SAInet 384k Uncapped

Uncapped tends to shape the **** out of things by the way.... plus, it's uncapped. So a lot of people are downloading and filling up those contention ratios..... so port priority on surfing etc is given and not other ports like WoW...

Just change your ISP. Web Africa and iBurst have released accounts designed specifically to prioritize gaming protocols, and the bandwidth from your gaming won't be deducted from your overall cap either. This is the best way to go if you are looking for the best latency.

Fan-F-ing-tastic...

I'm guessing we're still a looooong way off from world class internet...

Well I'm not sure what gave you the idea that an uncapped account will get you the best latency. But I'm sure we all had to make that mistake some or other time. Basically (if anyone else is reading this)

You can have uncapped downloads
Or great speed/latency

Your choice... ;)

Yea, Web Africa (haven't played WoW recently though) unshapes gaming protocols on their shaped bandwidth, which brings down your latency quite a bit. iBurst you still need a static IP with the way they route everything through their data center (much like Screamer does, would be interesting to see if iBurst learned from Screamers mistake and have their own IP's good to go for iDSL)

Just buy a 1gb prepaid from WA and test it out

Tenacity, just buy yourself 1GB for unshaped saix based bandwidth from an ISP of your choice and use that for WoW'ing. Should bring you down to 350ms.

I can give you my 1 gig prepaid WA account I used to test the latency out. I think there's about 500 meg left. I don't need it anymore as I have the 30 gig account with WA for R199 ;)

My latency is around ~350ms, on a 384kbps line.
