I am a new WOW player, using ADSL shaped account and NukeCap payVPN. I am getting latency of between 500 and say 800, is that good, or bad? What should I be getting or expect to be getting. The gameplay seems pretty normal as far as I can tell, like I say I'm a newbie. Playing a druid night elf. Will the latency hamper my gameplay at all (if it is indeed bad latency).

Thanks

I've been playing for 6 months on a shaped account and have experienced time ranging from 300 to 8000. But on average it ranges from 500 to 800 which is very playable but it does give you a very small disadvantage over the people in the EU who have times of about 80. You can basically think of it as you seeing things delayed by a second.

Ja, not a bad latency for SA, my isdn is a bit better, but i think thats about par for the course, though i'm not sure you're benefiting that much with unshaped. might be worth going shaped and saving a few bob.

Strobemeister - he is on shaped, using our payvpn for R60 a month to get on par ping with unshaped accounts.

Ok :) got it, soz, and thats a pretty reasonable price, i might add.
These non-SA players don't even realise the edge they have over us in PvP :(
A short delay can make quite a difference when you're trying to get out a quick heal or spell.
