Hey guys,

Just ordered my copy from btgames. Hopefully I'll get started tonight after all the patching.

Quick question about the PvP or PvE to choose. I have read up on the things that can be done (Im coming from Guild Wars) like professions, dailies, mounts, auctions that got me excited...

if i choose PvP (which most ppl, I have seen, prefer to do), can I do all of those same activities on the PvP server as well?

None of the sites I have seen answered that question....

Welcome to WoW :)

You can do everything on any server. All a pvp server means is that you get more world pvp.

oh, and that you can get ganked to hell and back, corpse camped, teabagged and defecated on till the cows come home, while you are trying to level. PVP means that extra fear element hehehe. "oh CRAP! here comes a lvl? hordie!" /autocrap

Yes, you can do the same things on a PVP server that you can do on a PVE one. All proffesions etc are available. The only difference is the PVP mechanics on the two servers.
On PVE you can choose to do PVP or not, provided you don't step into horde territory then you are flagged for PVP and horde can kill you. All non territory areas you have to agree to PVP to actualy become a target. On PVP servers non territory areas are seen as contested areas and PVP is always active. A few areas where you cant PVP though, such as Shatra city...

Sweet ! Thanks.

PvP is calling out my name ! :D

I figured it was time for me to check out the illusive WoW world.
After I heard, Guild Wars 2 player development starting out from scratch, I just lost interest....

also, i have seen guys with one character on PvP and another character on PvE. I assume this is with one account.

Do you have to buy a separate game time for a second character on a different realm or is there like a max limitation on the number of characters you can make with one account?

You can have 10 characters per 'realm'/server, and you can play on any realm

So in other words you can have 10 x (ammount of servers) chars ;) You are just limited in 10 Chars per server and you are not allowed to have a char on the Horde and Alliance side of the same PVP server on one account.

Thanks, you guys are stars.

For The Horde !!!!

hehehe, yip im hyped up now :)

Gonna research some EU realms now, see which ones are worthwhile esp for joining SA guilds

Tip for future.

Before transfering your characters anywhere, make sure its an english speaking realm.
*i transfered to a german realm once accidentally and was stuck there for 3 months as thats the cooldown on transfers. I did contact a gm and they just said sorry , nothing they can do about it.
DONT LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU !!! :p

You can also do both PvP and PvE :) Just ensure you have the correct gear.

On my mage I'n fully PvE specced and geared, but I have full S2 PvP gear as well, so I easily respecc and do some PvP :D

A change is as good as a holiday :p

As others have mentioned, the only difference between PVE and PVP realms is that you can be attacked by members of the opposing factions on PVP realms when in contested territory (ie anywhere outside the newbie zones).

Having levelled to 70 on both types, I can say that PVE grants you a lot more peace of mind, and you can level to 70 without having to watch your back or do the corpse run thing too often. It's nice for those who just want to enjoy the questing aspect of the game. Of course, when the world pvp bug bites - and it will - it kinda sucks to be stuck on a pve realm. You can still flag yourself for pvp on a pve realm, but you stil lcan't attack other people on a whim - you have to wait for them to attack you.

It's difficult to suggest a PVP realm right off the bat to a new player, because you WILL get mercilessly and repeatedly ganked (regardless of which faction you choose - Horde and Alliance both have their fair share of jerkwads), which may sour the whole WoW experience for you. Nonetheless, if you can soldier on through the griefing, a whole new game opens up at 70 where you're free to bring justice to gankers, or become a ganker yourself.

After all, it's World of Warcraft.

Also, I strongly reccomend a stealther (rogue or druid) for your first jaunt through a pvp realm. The ability to res, stealth and hide from a level ?? corpse-camper will save you many, many headaches. Druids in particular have access to a travel form and stealth, can heal themselves and can even turn into a tank (bear), making them extremely effective at survival out in the harsh, ganker-infested wilderness of Azeroth.

lol ... he meant the server type :p

Dude ... a PvE server is quite boring... if you see the enemy, he may request that you fight him. What's the point in that? Where's the thrill of running into enemies and not knowing if you'll be alive to tell the tale?

a PvP RPG server has it all ... sure you have your safe zones where horde cannot attack unless you initiate the assault, but there are open areas where its free for all - and this really makes the game!

Sure it can become irritating if someone kills you while you're picking daisies for a quest, but then you call your friends to help - and he calls his - and you call even more and so does he and eventually you have 20 vs 20 guys fighting over daisies. Its beautiful.

Read as gnome rogues fapping in the bushes

Well, the G in Ganker is just as easily interchangeable with a W, without losing much, if any, of it's meaning. :p

Imagine a server without any ganking.

That would be like tabasco sauce without the sting.... just not right :/

Imagine walking past Tauren Mill in southshore and NOT chasing hordies or being chased by meelions of them. Where's the fun in seeing lions without teeth or claws?
