I know this a bit late, but is anyone willing to d/l the Open Beta for me - postage would be preferred due to some unspecified reasons, I am mostly in Cape Town.

oops... busted. Been so far down lost all track of time. Call me a liar for a couple of weeks :p but must say you have it worse than me or your single :p lvl 18 Nightelf druid. Skinning 137 Leatherworking 56. Fishing 3, impossible with the lag :mad: . Ventured out of tedrassil yesterday. Very scary :eek:

P.S. What ping times are you experiencing?
 
I'm on ISDN 64k (Telkom ISP) and getting pings if < 600. Sometimes down to <500 even during peak. Very nice, and quite playable.

Shadow Moon is a PvP server, so often gank-squads about...but if you know where to XP, you're ok. Friday's Honour system should sort out some of the ganking...we hope.

And yes, I am single. But I'm not new to MMORPGs, played Asheron's Call 2 and 18 months of DAoC while living in London. I get into a routine and XP ok. And that's only playing at night on Weekdays, and on weekends.

I am getting ~500 on my capped ADSL last night even had a couple of minutes in yellow latency :D . Can't play that much wyf gets mad :o
 
That's actually nice. Though I've heard some people get high latency occasionally with ADSL... I never have, not in the month of playing.

Also, I don't really expect my ISDN costs to be anywhere near ADSL, and besides, I don't use it for much more than surfing a few sites, patches, and WoW (+ plugins for WoW), so I really don't need huge bandwidth.

Shame... yes, a wife or g/f can be a bit of a problem, unless they're understanding or you get them something that they like that they can do at the same time. :) Some of my UK friends are lucky enough to have wives that play too.

FireFLi, if you read this and are online this weekend, can you let me know what your pings are like over ADSL. I just got my first bill, and installation + 2 months + phonecalls = !!!!, so thinking of moving to ADSL, but my concern is the ping.

Brannor I can keep a record for you if you like,played an hour this morning still just over 500. If you can go the extra mile and get unshapped ADSL ;) especially if your heavy into gaming do IT! Just waiting for aproval from the big boss (a.k.a wyf) and I am going to make the switch :cool:
 
Does sound tempting now...cause your ping is basically the same as mine...
And of course, on public holidays, like this coming week, you'll be able to play all day, if the boss lets you.

Wonder if the 192k package with a 3gb cap is the way to go...since I don't need lots of bandwidth...

Rookie mistake :D you can teach them how to walk towards the stream of water, but you can't teach them to take off their clothes and take a bath infront of strangers while being photographed and streamed over live webcams accross the world.

Point is, they like to learn things on their own, if she wanted to know something, she'd asked.

Everytime this happens to me, I ask myself "Is it me playing this game?" if the answer is "no" I keep my mouth shut. Even though the other person is losing horribly and you can see the obvious mistakes


Did I mention I was bored today?
