I have an friend playing WOW on an local server that are running VOX for faster line speed, when he plays the game it runs fine, but when he goes into an town his ping goes up to more than 5000, what could the problem be running on Vodacom accounts on his side.

Can't really say. On official servers, your ping time in some cities is higher, but that's because you've got a couple of hundred players in the city at the same time. Currently, Dalaran is the worst affected. I can't say the same for private servers, since they don't have the same amount of players, but it's possible if there is enough players and the server isn't up to scratch.

On a similar note, has anyone experienced a bug, usually in towns, where you keep moving on the same spot after stopping. It's not lag, since I can still cast immediately. Also, certain animations (casting and jumping), stop before the end and you're character doesn't move at all.

Sounds like the server can't handle all the action in Dala. Same thing happens on occasion on heavily populated official servers.
I just don't understand why people bother playing on emulation servers..

As far as I know VOX is a hosting company. As for the issue, sounds like it's client side. Since everything is loaded on one server, unlike blizzards servers where every area is running on it's own server, if there is lag in a city, there would be lag throughout the world.

In the world the lag is fine only when he enters the city it jumps to 5000+ well he said that the other player pings are 80 something could it be ISP related?

I don't think it is cauze then the ping would do the same in the world...

As I said, it's client side. Has he tried running from another client perhaps?
