Okay guys, I've played this game for a total of 40 minutes or so, its kinda big learning curve. But it feels VERY much like Diablo. With Ultima Online I almost never have to touch the sword, I can keep myself busy with mining and smithing or explorering on horse back....

In your own words, why should I buy this game and join on the international servers? I will miss something out of my life, probably, but go for it. All I hear is how great it is? I see nothing about it being great if you run around killing stuff to get more stuff to kill better stuff....

Btw, I played on the free server in South Africa, and my ping was reported to be 800ms... that really sucks... anyone on UUNET playing WoW?

The South African server is in no-way the same as the real thing - although I don't have the game, one of my friends have said that and so have numerous others on this forum.

In the proper WoW; content is updated properly, there are bugs but far less than the free version and there are many more people.

It's RPG. In the beginning it is more about character building than anything else. Speak to the NPC's do a couple of quests, building you character.

The first 10 lvl are really the "training" levels. I have to say that the real fun only starts after lvl 10 or so. Eg. The shaman gets his first proper quests to get hit first totem. Also you start off with assigning talents and make your character unique. But I'd have to say, life starts after 40.

The "coolness" for me is, that there are thousands of players on a server. The quests get quite alot harder and it forces you to join forces with others. You start to learn to work as a team and learn how to play your character properly. I got really hooked after doing my first instance, around level 16. 5 man team, killing elite mobs and taking down bosses is such an adrenaline rush. Warriors are tanks and they keep aggro, rogues, hunters, mages and warlocks are the big damage dealers, but have low hp and the shaman paladins buff the group and druids are the jack of all trades.

And then finaly the guilds; The guilds can be very beneficial, not only for doing grouping up, instances and raids, but also for trading. Raids are extremely fun, raid another city or defending your own, with hundreds of players and some serious PVP action. In a raid group, you get split into several smaller groups. This is the group that you generally work with. Raids can also be on a Dungeon/Instance. Inorder to defeat the very big bosses and pick-up epic items, your guild will have to organise a huge group, I'm talking roughly 30 lvl 60's, to kill some of these bosses.

Ooooh... you forgot the Battlegrounds and all the cool stuff available once you get your CP's up and move up through the ranks. Saw some elite mounts in IF the other night. Absolutely ducking AWESOME :D

I was going to, but then my boss wanted me to do something ... heh let me continue:

PVP, seems to really be taking off now. They have now introduced Honor points, so every kill you group / raid makes, you get an a point. If you reach a certain amount of points you start to gain rank. By gaining rank you gain access to other features in WoW. There are items available to purchase, but you need rank inorder to use them.

Blizzard have introduce a new "Battlefield" called, battlegrounds. I have not reached that high yet, but as far as I know, it features games such as capture the flag etc.

TRUST ME. Life starts after 40 and even when you reach the currently level cap, which is 60, there are tons of things to keep you occupied. Plus there is tons of skills to grow. Just when you think you become bored of WoW, something else pushes you back into addiction. If it's not trading items at the Auction House, it's looking for that ultimate set of items.

PS noone, I warned you not to play on a emu-server, it will ruin your perception of what WoW really is about. If RPG's is not your style, then stay away, but this is FAR from Diablo, its like comparing a dry prune to a juicy watermelon. This is no ordinary RPG though. Blizzard seem to have pumped the fun element into RPG and thats what makes WoW fantastic. (ok fishing can be a little boring, but it is so in real life too)
