Well i remember when WOTLK came out. at that time I still was on scapegaming. they said they are gonna wait like 6 months or so because blizzard was busy shutting the pvt servers down that already had wotlk aftr a few weeks. and now scapegaming went down with no help from blizzard whatsoever. lmao. Well i doubt all pvt servers will go down, its like stopping piracy and torrents. as if thats ever gona happen...

I think of it this way. We pay like 130 a month depending on exchange rates. And most if not every month new content gets added to keep us busy. So in a way we are "paying" for the new content in the already existing game. And w/e if we pay every month to play WoW its like so worth it!

It is a lot more expensive hosting than playing on a Blizz server but the advantage is you get to choose who you want to play with, my wife kids and friends all play together and it’s a great way of socializing.

I have been playing on a private server for over a year. Its one of the best, its uptime is better than blizzards, seeing as they seem to be always offline, and there are over 2000 players on there.
I have gotten friends on recently and we love it. Sure we cant play newer content yet but it will come. It really does help if you have guys who know what they doing running the administration part of it..and ya grown up people who take it seriously.
The server only runs 2.4.3 now but wotlk content is on its way.
Now the reason i play on this server instead of real??
Well firstly.. its free. No other reason needed really.. i get to enjoy the brilliant game without paying anything except my 3g bill..brilliant
Secondly...and my main reason im doing it is this..I GET TO EXPERIENCE THE GAME AT MY OWN PACE WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT MAKING MISTAKES.
I dont have to pay with my time for things i should have known but don't because people dont tell me. ie raiding etc. Nobody told me nothing when i started the game on blizz servers i was just happy go-lucky tra la la pew pew wow awesome game etc.
When i got to 40 i still had no clue what was really going on even though i was in a guild with experienced players etc..if i didnt ask i didnt know thats just how the game works.
So instead of me wasting time leveling to 70 only to find out i should of done this and this and this..now im learning at my own pace..and I DIDNT PAY FOR THIS LEARNING EXPERIENCE WITH REAL MONEY!..unlike the blizzard servers.
But doesnt matter what i say here everyone will have their opinion about whats right and whats wrong - just think you should keep it too yourself but ya right like thats going to happen.

I played on a Pirate server the other night to try out some multiboxing software.
Now those servers SUCK. Nothing like Blizzard servers. The quests don't work 90% of the time. Instances have all the bosses at the entrance, you just pull one at a time and fight them. The tank doesn't even need healing and there is no trash.
Seriously, I was on one for about 4 hours trying to get the Multiboxing sorted once I got it working I thought nice, let me try and level 3 shamans. When it came to the 1st totem quest, it didn't work. So I said fk it and changed my realmlist back to Blizzard and logged onto the real thing. I wasted a whole bloody day messing around on a piece of crap server

WOTLK has been out for almost a year but at least you will be able to experience it, say maybe this time next year. Do yourself a favour, take out a subscription and experience WoW like it is meant to be.

I have nothing against people playing on private servers for what ever reason. But the very second you pimp Pirate servers to be above the legit ones your heading into a battle field.
Private servers are free for a reason..... They suck

Interesting. The way I see it you have 2 problems with official servers.
1. Downtime/Offline
2. Payment/Price
On point 1, you are obviously taking a bull****. I have never had downtime on any of the Blizzard servers I play on, in fact the only downtime they have are the normal scheduled downtime on Wednesdays that everyone knows about...
Point 2, well you have a point there but really if someone derserve money for a product you can pay them. I have a bigger problem with tax than with paying the monthly sub to play wow.
