WOW Problems again

Ok so I had most of my addons disabled (only the needed ones for raiding etc). Sunday I was more concerned with the latency problems + I also only did a frew tries on Halfus HC, but seems that was just a once off thing as latency was perfectly fine last night, BUT the real problem I now realize I have (something that I did not really pay attention or really saw to with the ms LAG) is massive FPS lag.

As I said in my 1st post me System is this:

Core 2 Duo 3.2ghz
4GB Ram
HD4870 1GB Card
Win7 x64

I went along to Valiona and Theralion, Ascendant Council & Cho'gall and had a horrid +- 9 FPS in the fights with parts of Cho'gall taking me to like 2FPS. Slideshow **** and not cool.
Seriously is this PC above suppose to perform so crap in CATA?

3D Mark 11 test scores I did are perfectly fine and even slightly higher than other similar systems I found on the net.

Any opinions/ideas/tips?

TY

Is it a constant low or does your FPS seem to drop randomly to low numbers? (on the encounters). Also, do you by any chance have KIS 2011 installed?

Edit*: What I mean is, say you start encounter, would you be on 60 FPS, then randomly it drops to 9 FPS for quite a while, then jump back to 60 FPS?

You play WoW with that system? :O What a waste! :p

Oi... I dont just play wow... I also watch stuff on youtube AND browse many sites + forums !
Download a few things from news servers etc. All the important stuff you know ! :-p

@ prOd

Anything with heavy gfx effects. Standing around before a boss fight I sit @ my vertical sync fps of 60 then we start the encounter and it goes down. The more effects the slower it gets. Generally around 9-10 fps in normal fight crap and with say the AOE dmg part & small adds spawn on Cho'gall it goes down to like 2FPS. Its crazy.

And yes I am using KIS2011. Is that a problem? I was using 2010 before December. Also I did not notice problems in Dec when I was doing only 10 mans.

How about you Pornolio, you using KIS maybe?

Nope ... Using M$ security essentials... I am pretty sure its just the way the spell details / AOE effects reacts with mods and syncing between clients.
Instances like Ulduar also had it initially when you enterred the Thorim encounter (spectators around you) + Gormok in TOGC when he cast his flames.

We are not the only people suffering from bad FPS issues... support forums are flooded with complaints about the same problem.

Running a Core 2 Duo 2.6ghz/8800GT/4Gb Ram/Win7 x64 and have had no problems with any of the fights in either BoT or BWD, cleared all the raids last week and didn't notice any fps problems on any fights so far so not sure what it could be.
Did you guys have any problems with Gormok fights and getting disconnected just as the fight starts?
Since then I've switched off my combat log and set it up not to log anything, never had a dc since then due to too much combat information ie F-o-K spamming whelps on Onyxia's Many Whelps achievement or any aoe for that matter which involves 30+ adds.

Ah, I refer you to : http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=185751

I'll quote myself from that thread:

Yes. I've pulled my hair out for about a month now, trying to get to the root of why why FPS suddenly drops to 15fps and why my PC goes no a near complete stall (even the music pauses), so I started keeping my task manager open while I'm playing and noticed KIS2011 randomly shoots up to about 90%+ of CPU power, these risings are concurrent with the FPS drops. As soon as I started pausing protection the problem was solved. And it's not like I have a crap PC, it can pretty much handle itself. Any ideas on this?

Sadly it doesnt seem like theres a solution yet, what I can tell you is: I started disabling KIS 2011 whenever I do raids / dungeons or PVP. There are some settings you can toggle that helps a bit (Enabling gamer profile etc). Then again, its not to say your problem is a KIS 2011 problem only, I suggest you disable it the next time you raid, and report back. ;)

KIS 2011...not my favorite software anyways.

It also helps to lower "particle density" in video settings, as that just rapes GFX cards in general. I find "good" to be acceptable, still looks sparkly enough without hitting the FPS too hard in 25mans, though outside of 25mans I have it at ultra or high.

Running the exact same setup on medium gfx detail, also no prob although it could be faster - takes quite a beating when Frapsing..
Ordered the i5 2500K last week though as it's priced pretty well and rated tops for WoW.

Is combat log not more CPU related. CPU usage is low during wow play. Anyway I'll try it, there an option to disable it?

I'll disable KIS2011 and see. Considering going back to 2010 also

Regarding gfx, it was on low last night and got that crap fps. There is no difference between LOW and HIGH. They both sux.

Ye frapsing on it is quite hectic and I'm running @1920x1080 and mostly do full resolution frapsing.
Looking at the 2500k as well, just trying to get my finances in place as well as deciding on the mobo.

Not to sure tbh, I did find it made some bottleneck with regards to latency, what I did was probably not the easiest way, but in the textbox options of the combat log you can set everything it should track and I just unticked everything and there was a command I ran as well coupled with that(Can't remember it out of my head) which was supposedly disabling the log. So I'm not sure if this will actually help with the issue you are experiencing at all...

I'm pulling my hair out with an issue I'm having at the moment. SOMEWHERE on my network there's a bottleneck. Regardless of game, my ping increases in relation with the amount of action in the game. For example:
In unpopulated areas of WoW, I'd get 270 (using LowerPing), but in towns, or fighting mobs, it increases to 320. Cities = 400.

Left 4 Dead 2: Alone, picking off zombies: 27
Fighting more than 20 or so: 45+

I know it's not a lot, but it's not meant to be like this (as far as I know), and I can't seem to see what's causing it :S

I suspect either my router (Billion 400g) or my NIC (Realtek Gigabit)
Anyone have this before?

Im also having a rough time. Have a stable 250ms majority of the time , just in raids my latency and fps can give me issues. Whats worse is they have a huge impact on performance. And im not looking to good in my guild which is making this game very stressful …

We also are using mumble for voice com and I have a feeling its chowing my bandwidth more than vent would. Any one have experience with mumble?

Well last night my PC's performance was perfect again (we did other bosses) which still makes me believe its only certain encounters that are buggy in terms of hardware usage.

As for mumble its very lightweight compared to Vent / Teamspeak 3... Then again if you are on 384 line with WoW and Voice comms, kazillion mods syncing then yes it could affect your gameplay / latency.

Which bosses are giving you problems(excluding Omnitron/Magmaw/Maloriak)?

#Side Note#
Only 59 HK's since 7/11/2010? Shame on you! :p

Mainly Halfus + Valiona / Theralion... tonight we will do Atramedes by the look of it, and then I will re-evaluate the FPS issue... but its definately not only me suffering on those bosses. It has to be individual encounters I believe... you will see a repitition of the same boss names being mentioned by people having FPS issues.

As for PVP hehehe... well, have you seen what its like doing PVP with focus ? :p There are way less painfull things to do... things like, cutting off your genital parts with a blunt bread knife comes to mind as being less painfull.

Now with the new title you get at 250 000 hk's ... I might just get involved into PVP again, just as soon as "hunting party" buff is fixed in next patch ofc :)

Lol, isn't Focus just like Energy for rogues? It should be easy then. :)

I just reached 50k a few weeks ago, but the 100k feels so far away and I'm not even looking at anything above that. :/
Yea Hunters was really in need of some PvP buffs since the expansion came out.
