I purchased WoW for nmy son and loaded it. It now insists on a 3Gig download!!! Anyone know of a way of getting around this?

unfortunately these are all the updates that are required in order to be up to date.

I had to do the same thing when I changed over from playing on the US servers to playing on EU.

As Witblitz was saying, get the latest version from somebody who lives near you.
There are plenty of WoW players on this forum.
Now ... where do you live?
What is your phone number?
What is your credit card number and expiry date ...

3 gig download is the least of your worries. There will be more after that.

Just get somebody to copy their whole directory and you don't need to download anything till the next patch.

Wow is great in that it doesn't store information in Window's registry (feels like a Mac in this regard). So as suggested find someone with the complete install and copy the entire directory.

Where are you located? If you want I live in PE and you can copy my folder, alternatively if you live outside of PE, I can burn the patches to DVD. Just tell me what version you have currently.

1.2gb zomg...zomg thats insane...For what?? some druid skins, a new battleground, a couple new NPCs and a few dungeons??? thats the largest patch so far by far. Isnt justified imo!
Shoot thats gonna push wow up to like 15gb.. Thats bigger than Turok, or GTA4 or.........

Actually there is new content too in this patch, whole raid instance ect. Its more than just a bit of graphics. They probably upgrading a bunch of other stuff as well which we dont even know about yet.

True, but I dont think its 1.2gb on top of current wow, it probably replaces a bunch of content so shouldnt be larger by that much.
