Last night I called them at 18:05, my line was dropping every minute or so. My jaw dropped when the guy asked me if I want someone to come out last night still or first thing in the morning.

I was amazed that they, not even came out first thing in the morning, but fixed my line by basically reinstalling it to get a better line. The dude then phoned me an hour later to ask if everything was okay (i was still at work)

wtf? I never expected this kind of service from Telkom!?!!?!

kudos

Kudus...?

Was it the ADSL helpdesk that asked when they should come out, or was it a techie that contacted you & asked you that?

Noone, what exchange is that line shackled to, Roodepoort? What is everyone else's experience at the same exchange as Noone?

Telkom ADSL

Same thing happened to me. I logged a problem, and expected to wait a week, and then need to call back. Around 7pm the same day (I logged the call around 4pm), a Telkom techie phoned me from the exchange to tell me the problem was sorted, and asked me to retest!

Yup.. there are many techies who still take pride in their work and deliver a good customer experience.. full points to them - especially under the working conditions.. personally i've only had good service from Telkom employees and many a long chat

Had a good chat with both the oaks that installed my line - coloured guy and a black guy - both very professional and both more than a little p1ssed off with Telkom as employers !

They have thier work cut out these days after all the retrenchments - the guy I spoke to was already on 10 hours work that day and he wasn't getting any overtime.

Best thing in the world you can do in terms of Telkom is get friendly with a decent Tech person - get their cell numbers if you can !

nope, they phoned me 30 minutes later to arrange it.

and ic, it's kudos :D I can like to wear jean pant. I doubt I'm at the Roodepoort one. The exchange is close to clear water i think

Wow maybe they thought you were the president or something

No, I meant Kudus - as in the massive things walking about in the veld...as for a Kudu walking about in a jean pant - that would be something unique :D

So, you're saying it was the call centre or the techie that called you 30 minutes later to arrange......remember I am doff so u need to spell it out for me ;).

I've said this many times before. Personally, I've never had crap service from Telkom. Your mileage may vary of course, but I think that overall, they're a _LOT_ more professional than your average wannabee connectivity provider in this country.

btw I met the Queen long ago, it was only a Dream.. Damn

 which Queen is that?

Reminds me that Musica are trying to flog Queen CDs on TV - is it an F.M. anniversary of some sort...

Ok, back on topic again, Noone, how much did you have to spend on bribery & corruption to piggy back your landlord's tickybox line? I am trying to decide whether I should keep a single Telkomonopoly analogue line in the unlikely event that I can ever get my ADSL application approved...the concrete on my ISDN cancellation has not yet been set my Telkomonopoly...

ye, even i will give creds to telkom and its support. its about the only decent thing they can do, and i suppose its because they can afford it

That's the Panorama exchange. I'm on the same exchange and also had a good experince with my DSL installation. The techie who did the installation's name is Shadrack :D
