My post May 2010 iMac 27" quad core started to grow brown blotches on the LCD monitor.
As I live close to the Core repair center in Jet Park so I took it in on Tuesday.
They phoned yesterday(Wednesday) and said the LCD panel needs to be replaced, and that they had spare panels in stock.
Today, Thursday I was phoned and was told that my Mac was ready for collection.
I think a repair within 48 hours is fantastic for us in SA.
Thanks to Antonio and his team.
Well done Core Technical, Jet Park.:):):)
PS. This is a reported problem on Google.

Yip I'd say that's pretty good considering the nature of the repair; still don't think it'll make me like Core.

I really hope Apple intends to replace them at some point, in short their prices suck, their in store service sucks (genius se gat), ...

You are one of the lucky ones I guess, some other were shown the finger.

I guess you are right in your assumption. What I have found in dealing with companies in SA is to establish the correct contacts. This is not easy and pretty much trial and error. I avoid the iStores when repairs are involved and go directly to their JHB workshop.
My Macbook Pro also had issues under warranty and was dealt with in and efficient and expedient manner.

Fair credit where it is due - maybe, just maybe, they're trying to adjust their image. I took my nephew's nintendo there last week and they called me to collect three days later. Touch screen was FUBARed, device showed signs of heavy wear. On collection, touch screen was fixed and device was cleaned up. No charge. Well done core.

I agree that their in-store service sucks - and for the most part their staff know buggerall about the products and software.
However, I think their pricing is quite fair - yes they are a bit more expensive than USA prices, but that is expected - the market there is way larger. Compare our Apple prices to the UK and Europe, and you will find we are priced the same....if not cheaper in some respects

On some products I would agree, but Core is very inconsistent with their pricing; look at the following comparison I did recently http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?p=7285197
Surely you can agree that it would be impossible to provide any sound reasoning for a R2200 discrepancy on 2 Apple products both with a base US price of $999.

Btw there are many other easy to find examples with Core.

Every time I've had to deal with Core group I've been treated extremely badly and at one stage they refused to help me at all?? I have never delt with a company like them and the kind of service you mentioned is "normal" and is in no way "good service". I love all my mac products but I'm lucky enough to get them from overseas. I really do hope Apple comes into the country and helps get rid of Core group.

I must disagree on the fair pricing aspect. I assure you that the only product that is fairly priced at the moment is the iPad range.
The reason is quite obviously competition from self imports and the grey market. The rest like iMac, Macbook Pro, Macbook Air are way overpriced even compared with Australia which carries a 10% premium on Apple. (including iTunes and Apps)
But this premium was being questioned by a few MP's whilst I was there during Sept/Oct.
