i have a do2 package which is 384k, bt today for some reason my line syncs at 192k. any one experiencing the same problem?

just reset your router (it has a ON / OFF switch at the back)

Put it off for 20seconds, and back on.

Wait 5-10 seconds for it to sync,

Then log back in, and check if it still sync's at 192K.

Also check your SNR and Attenuation measured in dB (the higher the SNR the better, the lower the attenuation the better)

napalm my attenuation is ok, and my snr is also just ok, but the day i got to my new place, i synced at 4meg for 24 hours, following day i was down to 1024, been that since... telkom are haX!

DSL Profile

The profiles for DSL is illustrated below and refers to line sync speed:

DSL Up to 384kbps
Down stream: min 256kbps; max 384kbps
Up stream: min 64kbps; max 128kbps

DSL Up to 512kbps
Down stream: min 416kbps; max 512kbps
Up stream: min 192kbps; max 256kbps

DSL Up to 4096Kbps trial
Primary profile

Down stream: min 640kbps; max 4096kbps
Up stream: min 256kbps; max 384kbps

The DSL Up to 4096kbps service has 4 sub-profiles, which are used to stabilize customers' service that experience re-synchs (service interruptions) on their ADSL lines due to last mile distance, noise and attenuation. Therefore customers that experience problems on the service may be accommodated on any of the secondary profiles below:

Secondary profile
A. min sync rate: 640kbps; max sync rate: 4096kbps
B. min sync rate: 640kbps; max sync rate: 3072kbps
C. min sync rate: 640kbps; max sync rate: 2048kbps
D. min sync rate: 640kbps; max sync rate: 1024kbps

What the above entails is that if a customer does not sync at the profile listed in A above they will be accommodated on B, C or D depending on the line sync speed.

Deicide, your current sync rate of 192k is actually in complete violation of Telkom's SLA, in which they state that the lowest sync speed is now 256k. Perhaps you should call them and alert them to this fact, then if they take longer than 24 hours to fix it, you have yet another SLA breach.

My 4mbit line is currently syncing at 640/288, which is bordering on not only their SLA, but on complete insanity as well. I am right down the road from the exchange, I usually get perfect sync rates, or at least I have up until around a week ago.

Telkom need to get their sh*t together and sort this crap out, because it seems to be on a national scale.

Hi There, Please assist me in better understanding this.

Is the Sync speed the spped as shown on the ASDL router, or is it determined by a download speed test ?

Technically - Yes. Practically - No. Too many variables' in between, Router type, Quality of your copper .. etc.. " Too many to mention ".

yeah this under syncing thing is getting on my nerves considering, ive synced at 4meg, downloaded at 4 meg speeds, and gotten positive results on speed tests at 4 meg sync... now im just a useless 1 meg... does telkom not get that 4x drop in speed is retarded?
