Wrong vin number on trailer

I need help with a vin number problem.

I bought a trailer from builders a couple of years ago and recently discovered that the vin number on the trailer is not the same as the vin number on the license papers that I have.

How do I fix this problem, as the trailer's vin number is now registered on someone else name. He now also sits with the a trailer where te vin number is not the same as his papers.
