Wsus and how to properly disable it?

Hi Mybroadband,

I hope this question is in the right section but I need some help removing the Wsus service from a Windows 2008 Foundation server. We've recently taken over the server which has been running for quite a while and we need to remove all the updates that have been stored as well as disable the service without causing any disruption to the rest of the services running.

If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be hugely appreciated

Uninstall the role. Then all the updates should be wherever you specified it to save when the server was setup. Not sure if it will remove it if you uninstall the role, if not you can just delete the directories afterwards

Then remove the WSUS server details in GPO's
