Hi Guys

Hope you can help.

I have two problems.

Problems 1:
I modified all the required WU GPO settings so that clients point to http://myserver:8530. I also set some other update settings and client-side targetting. I'm currently testing it on the server itself, a XP machine and a Vista Business machine. The GPO applies to the Vista machine and the server but not the XP machine. Other GPO setting has applied to the XP machine like a logon message, etc. but none of the WU settings. RSOP confirms this. Why is this happening? I get a Userenv error in Event Viewer on the XP machine saying it can't find some policy file (forgot the name, think it was registry.pol).

Problem 2:
After manually adding registry entries to point the XP machine to the server, both the XP machine and the Vista machine cannot access the WSUS server. I have double checked the settings making sure they point to the right address and port. I'm sure the WSUS server is setup correctly as the server itself can connect to the WSUS service and do updates correctly. Also, when accessing http://myserver:8530 from IE or Mozilla on the server, I get a blank page which I think is normal. When I do the same from the clients, I get a 403 error. Something about not authorized.

any help would be very much appreciated.

Is anonymous access enabled in IIS on the WSUS website?
