So, this morning I get a text from these people:

"you recently interacted with xxx from Afrihost. Please rate the service you received from xxx by replying with a number from 0(worst) to 10(best)".

My last interaction was via email.
A month or so back i get an email:
"thank you for your payment, proof of payment has been received"
Then, a week later I get another msg saying payment has not been received (this despite afrihost confirming proof thereof).
So the same day, I respond to the email asking them to check which account it is we are dealing with - the email from them only has a ticket number as reference.

Over 2 weeks later i am afforded the courtesy of a reply to my query.
I am requested to "URGENTLY" attend to this account payment (note - they have completely ignored my previous mail regards the same).
"URGENTLY" ??
You have got to be crapping me !
2 weeks, not 2 days, but 2 weeks after I query this account these people have the gall to send an email asking me to treat it as URGENT !!
Given it has taken them 2 weeks to respond to my mail, it is more than apparent that there is absolutely nothing URGENT at all.

But now another 2 weeks or so later I get this text message asking to rate the service i received from someone a few weeks back.
In the past i used to respond, for some reason foolishly thinking the opinion of customers would help them.
No more.

But, should the truth be told, my response would have been a big fat ZERO.

I have no idea as to what may have happened to afrihost at the end of last year, but since then, afrihost is by far the most incompetent company i have had the misfortune of having to deal with.
This year i have had to deal with both telkom & home affairs - a dream & example of efficiency by comparison to afrihost.
You can expect a reply within 24 hrs from either - not so with afrihost.

It has become evident that there is a big big problem at afrihost.
Whatever it may be is anyone's guess, but it appears to be big based on comments both here & other websites.

A bit o/t but is it free to reply to those sms's?

oh no
you are expected to pay to tell them how pathetic a level of service is provided.

if they actually did something, i would without question be willing to pay premium sms rates.

Who gets the money from these SMS's. Afrihost and the cell service provider or just the cell service provider?

i have no idea, but is a bit of a ****ing cheek that customers are expected to incur any expense at all when a company asks for feedback.

Well I was called a knob for moaning about being screwed over a pro-rata rate which isn't supposed to be billed for. That costs more than what you are complaining about, so you must be something worse than a knob LOL.

I kid.

That's why I ignored the sms - the principle seemed daft. I'll happily send an email though.

Not the full story, and you know it.

Yes it is. I was called a knob because I complained about being billed unethically for what most believe was a small amount of money. Mountain.....molehill I believe was used. Doesn't this thread also fall in that category as you seem to be judge on such matters?
