I am paying Telkom/MWEB for a 2 Mbps connectivity, trying to run a business from home. This is an absolute joke. Is there anywhere/anybody/anything that we can do to demand a better service?

If I had to deliver this performance to my own paying clients I will be bankrupt in a week.

If this is a standard mweb uncapped account, there will be heavy shaping during the day. Try a business product or a capped product it would suit your needs better.

Its not a business account? Business accounts get priority, if you need your business to have priority get a business account!

My 4meg line isnt performing well in terms of a speed test but its performing fine in terms of use:

4Mbps line with Telkom and MWEB Home Uncapped.

"Heavily shaped?" What nonsense.

MWEB uses dynamic shaping which only really affects P2P such as torrents. Speed tests are HTTP- or FTP-based depending on the service.

If he's getting that result from a speed test the problem isn't "shaping."

Fire off a PM to MWEB Guy, he'd be better suited to help you diagnose where your problem lies.

Are you on ISDN, dial-up or a leased line?

Move to openweb gold they are much more reliable than Mweb for Business purposes. They have much better service than Mweb as well and you actually speak to competent Technical staff.

And your business doesn't go "offline" every second week when Seacom drops.

I am speaking from personal experience , even surfing the web in business hours on mweb can be a PITA. This is between 6am and 5-6pm then boom its perfect. Could be other reasons but I dont have this issue with other capped accounts I use.

Hi headblader

Please allow me the opportunity to look into why you are getting these speeds. I do require you MWEB details, please PM me the customer number or username in order to do a few check on our side.

http is always perfectly fine for me no matter what time of day, unless there's been some sort of issue (international cable down etc)

This is an ADSL line. ADSL is always "best effort". If you need a fixed line, get a diginet or ISDN line
