Hi All

I now notice that I am being allocated WEIRD IP addresses by iBurst

41.208.203.243

and, after I reconnected...

41.208.198.173.

Can someone plse tell me what is going on?

looks like the new number range of saix maybe?

that's weird.... dnsstuff.com told me there was a problem when I tried it around 10:45 or so...Oh well I thought my router was playing up so I reset the old beast and by the time it was done I saw the responses here...

thanks for the heads up

So what does this mean? they have some new servers/wat ever dishes out IP's?

Some sort of upgrade at all?

Well I am not going to complain... I get farking awesome speeds now on Roodekrans BS... even this morning still... pings will do tonite but the pings I am doing from the office are all consistent, for a change!

I also noticed the new IP range when I connected yesterday morning, or the day before that.

The first time I connected it seemed a bit more stable than my previous connection, but after reconnecting again it was back to normal, webpages sometimes not loading, MSN not working so well, etc...

I also noticed that the first time I connected and got an IP in that range the server I connected to was different to the usual one.

Well I got a fright OK... I thought my router was hAx0red or I had a spyware infection on one of my boxes

My IP addie on logging on tonight:
41.208.196.144.

CT.:D

normally when a company gets nice and big (after going through UUNET for bandwidth and IP addresses being assigned using UUNET's purchased range) they normally opt to buy their own IP address range from ARIN.

Normal standard practice as far as I'm concerned

My IP in Cape Town hasnt changed yet, but might when I reboot , Ill try it as sson as a friend is done on battle.net.

Is anyone noticing a change with the new IP, slight better latency at all? Or purely a cosmetic change?

EDIT: actually i just diconnected and recieved a IP practically the same as my old one. Just the normla change, Im still on 196.46.x.x

Even up until now the IPs that I get are still in the 196.46.x.x as yours are.

Okay.. but maby no more dead IP's on the new range?

Yet it might be something something on thier systems causing the problems and a IP range change isnt going to do anything about it.. blah

Anyway, what I want to know is whether their DNS addresses have changed since the new IP range. The old ones were on the same IP range as us, so I wouldnt be surprised if they moved the DNS servers too. But for now the old ones still work for me.

Hmm, well that can explain the port problems Ive been experiencing over the weekend. I rebooted this morning, checked now and I also have one of the new IP addresses.

Well.. I am back on 196.2.xxx.xxx IP address ranges and back on sub 30kb/sec download speeds :(

You get sub 30kb download speeds? Even during the day that is bad.. but believeable. Imyet to get a new IP... i jutswant one though, no idea why..maby it will help something, I geuss im just hoping.
