*WTF* Mouse Keeps Freezing

Ok .... now I'm doing my nut

My effing mouse keeps freezing... first I notice my keyboard (USB) numlock light will flash off then back on. Then the mouse just freezes (PS2). I got to get up unplug the farking thing, wait a second and replug it in. Its done it a few times now and then over the last 6 months, but today its like the 6th time !!!!!

Suggestions ?

MY AV is up to date, my OS is up to date. Is my MB getting old ?? (old gigabyte running p4 2.6ghz) - this is my work PC (heXP SP3).

Hope it's the mouse otherwise the southbridge on the mobo is going.
