We had a medical emergency, called for Paramedics , they will only send ambulance if I fork out R3300 up front.

Is your problem that they want to be paid? Or is the problem that they want to be paid before doing any work?
 
If you check out your Personal Policy there may be "Assist" cover which will include certain covers for this sort of event.

Hope all is ok??
 
That is the way private health care works yes.

I just hope they carry card machines

Do you have medical aid?
Your medical aid should have an ambulance service and you should already have that number written down somewhere.
If you are not on a medical aid, then you need to call the municipal ambulance service.
And pray that they get there within an hour.

Kid seems to be ok. He collapsed and had convulsions, cooled him down, gave some water. He is resting now, feeling better. Called his dad, no history of Epilepsy or such. Happened once before after being in the sun too long. It's kuk hot in Vereeniging right now.

Yea, that can give one a massive scare.

Probably heat stroke. Glad he didn't get too hurt during his seizure. And you would have paid R 3300 for what? Jirre that's rough.
 
In my experience, unless there are broken bones, it's quicker to just get in the car and drive to the hospital.

Was a very mild seizure. More like severe shivers.

oh my gosh you got to hear this story. one time in Schonenberg Estate it Was A UNBELIEVABLE Hot summer Day. This guy drove his truck with no Air Conditioner and he fainted and smashed right into the Schonenberg Wall behind our house. 2 years ago. ITS Gonna BE A HOT HOT SUMMER :D
so i went up there in my boxes and said "its gonna be a hot hot summer" : D
