Greetings wannabee Docs!

This Moose has had a cough for the last three months....

Nothing serious, feel 100%. , still can swim without losing breath and all....

Cough absent during the day, but an hour after lying down, I start to get the gurgling noise, no fever, no pain, just that irritating rasping noise..... Every night for three months,

Once every two weeks, when I get up , I feel the need to vomit just clear my airways, which I do (years of experience due my poor drinking habits!)

No heavy mucus, just a little bit of white transparent flem, with a splotch of blood here and there..... Due to my experience, I do not read much into the blood, assuming that it is just e throat getting a wee bit raw....

Now, Head Office wants me to go see the Doc, but I ain't that was inclined unless something is falling off me...

I researched TB , due to one of my workers having the condition a few months back, but have ruled this out, as the only symptom being the cough...... No fevers etc.....

Half an hour after I stand upright in the morning, the cough buggers of , not to return until I go to sleep....

Anyone want to suggest what I might have and do not blame my drinking habits...

Oh! And I have never smoked.....

 :(

The dreaded lurgy.

Just go to the doc....

Go to the doc ASAP. It can be something trivial. However, I recall a few years ago about a guy who couldn't shake the cough for 6 months. Ended up as stage 4 cancer

Well except for the vomiting and blood, the going to bed part and starting to cough sounds like my hay fever. I have to drink hay fever pill before going to bed at night, otherwise its coughing and rasping. Luckily its only this time of year for a month or two and Septembers for a few weeks.
I'd see a doctor if I were you, but if you want to test the hay fever theory, Alergecs is only R10 a box of 30 (I use texa 10, R60).

You a smoker?

Get to see your doctor ASAP.
It can still be TB, among other nasties. Yes, it can still be something like allergy or such, but this needs Workup.
You would need a chest xray at least and preferrably some blood tests as well.

Do not sit on this.

Nope, can't stand the smoke...never touched it, was asthmatic as a kid...

I was also going along the allergy route, my youngest daughter as cat allergies, the oldest one was allergic to pollen and all and my youngest always starts sneezing when he is around the bloody cat..

Do your have feather pillows or a down duvet?

Please go for a scan/see a doctor, for your kids sake. My mom ignored her niggling cough for a number of months and was then diagnosed with lung cancer, she was a heavy smoker when she was younger tho but lung cancer can happen to non-smokers too.

Hie, please do not listen to any advice here which requires you to take certain meds. The only advice which is wise is to visit the doctor. Just visit the doctor. Do not take ur life for granted. I urge u to simply just work up the strength and visit a proper doctor. Goodluck !!!

I recovered from a cold and sinusitis a few weeks ago. After 2 weeks of suffering, all of the symptoms were clear, apart from this stupid cough. I would be able to avoid coughing during the day, but as soon as I lay down to go to sleep, it got exponentially worse within 10 min or so to the point where I literally couldn't get a full night of sleep. I never went to the doc, and it cleared up eventually, but after researching it I put it down to liquid in my lungs caused at least partially by post nasal drip. Lying down apparently allows the liquid to shift around and disrupt your airway.

Eventually my sinus infection cleared, bloody mucus started to drain from my sinus ( which is a good sign ) and then the cough disappeared within a few days. But any chronic problem that doesn't sort itself out within a few months requires doctor's attention. IMO, go to a specialist off the bat. GPs just give you generic antibiotics with cough syrup and hope for the best. Hope it isn't pneumonia.

Can post nasal drip cause coughing? Perhaps that's all it is, nevertheless HO is right and you need to see a doc. Good luck.

Take a coolerbox and swing past the DOC have a few beers and let him have a look.

Had exactly the same symptoms and a cough that wouldn't leave. After checking WebMD I ended up assuming the worst (Lung Cancer). Went to my Doc to get it checked, expecting the worst. Turns out the cough was caused by heartburn brought on by (I know you said don't blame the bottle) alcohol. I got prescribed Sandoz Omeprazole and it magically disappeared.

But yeah definitely get it checked like everyone has said, could be something small or it could be a warning sign.

Walter White also had a cough (for a couple of years) and that didn't kill him.

Five years down the line...still have this cough....no blood.... must be nasal drip..coz it never got worse and I am still here..:p:p
