hopefully heaven but probably hell
last night iburst died completly at about 11:30. cound not log on... when i did log on could not access anything from email to browsing to anything.

pings would time out... blah blah...

so dead.

i phoned iburst this morning and the call centre dude was like there are 100's
of people phoning about huge problems...

what say ibursters at the moment? I am at work and couldnt see if my tower was feexed yet or whatever. anyone close to an iburst modem to tell me if they experienced the same thing and still are?

as usual iburst.co.za says nothing.

That happens @ random times to random people. It's a 'known bug' that won't be fixed anytime soon. My (capped) download speeds are now worse than dial-up.

I had the same/similar problems last night - eventually came right at like 03:30 am...:(...I did not phone the Helpdesk - AFAIK they still aren't 24/7 anyway, but the problems started yesterday for me throughout the day got worse & ended up in a lengthly disconnected sometime after 20:45 last night - too lazy to go check the SWE2 logs, but is was annoying...

iBurst to iBurst

Well, if these idiots that are using up all the resources doing iBurst to iBurst, maybe consider anyone else besides them, we'll all have a better service....

These guys are pulling between 32-89 gig ?

Is this ok with everyone else ?

What's not ok with me is that I'm paying a premium rate for something that is unreliable and under-performs, now you have to ask yourself:

'who is reponsible for delivering the service that you are paying WBS to deliver?'

well that would be WBS, and if their bandwidth banager non-system is not working to stop abuse, then why must I go witch-hunting fellow iBurst customers - I will complain that WBS is at fault & that's that...:)

yeah!!

if a roads are overcrowded because the council refuses to expand that road who do you blame? the people who use the road or the people who maintain the roads?

i couldnt give a fig what other iburst users do... if it weren't for this forum which is not sponsored by wbs we wouldnt even know half these things anyway.

i agree with ic here (even though he hates flash). it is wbs' fault. if it were a free service then i would bitch about other people, but it aint...

wbs wake up and fix your problems... we're paying for a service that you are not delivering!!!!!

The service had been really bad the whole of this week, and last night I had many disconnections, eventually gave up and went to bed. This morning my speeds were horrible, worse than dial-up.

I'm 300 meters from Olivedale tower, direct LOS.

This sucks. I'm thinking of moving to ADSL ...

I think all iBurst problems are nothing to do with the technology, so even if you hang a cable from the tower to your pc (after their shapping and craping software), it will still not work!

The entire WBS story is about making quick bucks for few people so they can retire after a year of doing nothing! If you speak to their management you will understand what I am talking about! They are incompetent, don't know basic things about internet, not to mention being ISP! So forget getting good service from them any time soon! All their problems are related to their incompetence and "don't care" attitude, not to the technology, so while there is a monkey goverment which gives licenses based on .... you know what, there will be crap like WBS!

Trust me when i say there are way to few iburst to iburst transfers at the moment to make any kind of a dent.

I got home last night at about 22h30. I connected with usb and it was quite fast. I thought that they might have sorted the speed problem out, but it seems just to have moved. At the moment I'm in Ormonde in the south near Gold reef city and the speeds are not to bad. I would like to do a local test but the telkom speed test seems to have be disabled. I connect to Northcliff at home. Here in the south I still get the utd signal dropping asif the tower is resetting the connection. I will check tonight at home if the good speed is still there. Hopefully they will not f...... it up again(one can only hope) I will be getting adsl next month so no more of this dropping stuff. It plays havoc with vnc and rdp connections aswell as vpn clients.

I also had problems last night from around 10pm to 1pm. On the network status page they showed Randburg, Bryanston, Olivedale and Linksfield basestations down and Radio Network in JHB degraded. The Radio Network in PTA was also down.
