I've been pretty lucky with iBurst so far. The occasion problem but nothing that I couldn't handle. This evening however something strange started happening...

I tried to log in to Vodacom4me (don't get me started on how sh!te that site is) and I kept getting redirected to helpdesk.wbs.co.za/someoneelse's_login. For their privacy I'll keep the login to myself. Eventually when I got somewhere all the links led to 255.255.255.255????

What kind of fsck-up is that???

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......sorry dont have much too add to that....only that I am sick of iCursed and their S**T.....and yes.....This Is Africa

Every time I try to open any google web site, it redirects forever until Safari kicks in and stops it ending up in a permanent redirect loop. I can't use google at all at the moment because of it.

Iget the same thing with google, and other web sites just dont load all of a sudden! like wwww.war3.co.za, cant get on to there server anymore!!

maybe take out the one w? :p

Seriously though, I have not been having any problems with Google. Are you guys connected via USB or Ethernet?

In the past, Google.com used to redirect and load immediately.

However, I noticed that, lately, it has been taking its time to load ... anything up to 5 seconds.

Yesterday, I had a similar experience where it refused to redirect, went into a loop, and then gave me an error.

Okay, I just got redirected to someones helpdesk account on wbs.co.za as well.

It's not good at all, I could change this guys password or buy more bandwidth for him at shockingly low prices. (so he wouldn't mind anyway)

It's the old iBurst site though but his login details are there.

iBurst really need to fix this quickly.. :(

It is the iBurst transparent proxy - it seems to catch a wobbly every few weeks.

I have heard figures in the region of a 10-15% saving in bandwidth by running a caching transparent proxy at the edge of an ISP's network. That said even the best caches (like the one run by Telkom  ) seem to have problems and I would prefer to be able to have a choice between being behind a cache or not - or at least being able to turn it off.

I found a list of overseas proxies on google that run on ports other than 80. By setting that in my proxy settings on my browser I am able to open all the sites that don't work. However - most of the open proxies are configured to block cookies and various other things so any site that needs a login is a no go through a proxy.
