WTH is it with vodacom packages

Their Smart packages are ridiculous. 200MB data and 200 SMS. Only 200MB? Do the guys that design packages even have smartphones? Who the hell uses that many sms these days. Come on... I send about 5 sms a month but now i have to pay for sms i dont want. Its fine if i choose to buy data and dont use it but i dont want sms but are forced to take it.

Me thinks that the packages are designed to force you to take a service you dont want and then have to pay for it. CellC model is far better.
 
They all do it. SMS is thrown in to make the deal look sweeter. Hardly anyone uses SMS anymore so give them for "free" in the hope they may be used.

Cell c gives the same amount of data on the similar entry level package.
 
I use my phone quite a bit and average 100MB to 200MB max a month;) I just tend to avoid web browsing on the phone

I fully agree. Just a way to force us to buy their more expensive data add-ons. Telkom Mobile at least give 5GB.

Yes and the smart people have moved away from Vodacom already, I am spending my R9k a month elsewhere and saving R1000's every month with better service. :)

Well not many options. Cell C has no reception to speak of where I live. EmptyN any better? Telkom? nah.

As they say, you can't please 'em all. I'd be unhappy with 5GB as I'd feel it was unnecessary just like the OP does with SMS (although I agree with that too). I have no need for so much data. I drive from ADSL wifi at home to ADSL wifi at work and when I am seeing clients I am certainly not using my phone to browse and download. I often carry over part of the feeble 75MB I do have on my package :)

I've moved everything over to Vodacom (8 contracts) as they offer me the best service. Depends on what you want from you service provider.
 
well all things considered, sms is not that expensive, as long as they charge the same as the sms bundles...

the uchoose flexi looks good with voice only and then bolt-ons. but the rates are 2c/sec. hard to compare if the R1.70 per minute on SMart is cheaper or more expsive than flexi
 
It doesn't make sense to YOU. I hardly use any data as 99.9 % of the time I'm on Wi-Fi and the rest of the time I'm only using WhatsApp. However, I use 150+ SMSs per month.

Well then maybe YOU are on the wrong package...

It's time they get with the programme and let you build your own package like CellC. But no, they force you to take stuff you dont need.

I used to work in the Vodacom environment and the s#!t that the product people thought up was astounding...
