WWDC 2014

I don't know why I expected it but I was really hoping to see an update to Aperture.

I was actually very impressed with the amount of small things they introduced that will make such a big difference to us.

The Family Sharing thing is very good business sense as they know people already use and share single accounts and it's nice to see them embracing this.

iCloud storage costs are also quite reasonable now.

And the move away from Objective C and their other SDK changes are a pretty big deal.

Overall very impressed, much more so than I expected to be. And that without a mention of new hardware.

I really like what i see on ios8 ... enough to loose my jailbreak .... and i mights as well get use to the fact as I want a bigger screen and will be loosing a jailbreak in a few months anyways.

Anyone got OSX 10.10 up and running yet?

Feel like downloading the developer preview, also signed up for beta program.

Will download the 4.5GB image from my mega.nz account tonight.

Downloaded OX 10.10 - will install on my iMac at home. There is no ways I would install it on the development MacBook.
iOS 8 also being downloaded and installed on a test device. Should be cool.

Swift will be interesting. Its very different to Objective-C and they say its easier to learn. For now I will finish all my current projects in Objective-C and new projects I will use Swift code only to get a better handle of it.

Over all though, I am impressed with this years WWDC - well done to Apple. :)

Damn, the podcast is huge!

1080p - 3.5Gb
HD 6.21Gb

Now I'm confused.

Why is the 'HD' file size larger than the '1080p' one? 1080p is HD.

You would think that 'HD' should be 720p and then 'Full HD' should be 1080p, which should have the larger file size.

Also, HEVC/H.265 is rather impressive. It manages to reduce the size of last year's October 'Special Event' originally at 5.13GB, down to 1.9GB without any perceiveable loss in quality.

Update: Aha. The 'HD' version of the 2014 keynote at WWDC is 1280x720, which is 720p, and the '1080p' version is a non-standard 1170x996. Not even close to 1980x1080. They probably boosted the compression rate on the latter as well.

The HEVC encoder indicates it can reduce the size of both files to around 2.6GB and 1.58 respectively.

Wonder when this new standard will go mainstream?

How stable is it so far?

Installed OSX 10.10 on an ext usb3 drive and booted off it.

All seems stable so far......

EDit: safari seems a tad unstable and its not showing charging bar correctly.

Yo-sĂŞ-me-tea is pretty solid.

I can't say I like it though in general design tones. Sadly the dark theme isn't in DP1 because that might make it look better.

They've made the zoom button the fullscreen button which pisses me off no end.

Folder icons looks like ass.

Folder icons suck BUT can't believe the speed I'm getting running off 256gb sata drive via usb 3.
Feels as responsive as Mavericks on my ssd.

Another bug - viber crashes

Its the developer features which interest me. Don't really care what they do to the desktop and the icons. The demo in the keynote for Metal was impressive.

Battery status working this morning.

Really enjoying Markup in emails.

Bit the bullet and cloned Mavericks from ssd onto spare 256gb sata drive.

Restored my Yosemite from usb3 sata ext on the 120gb ssd and the thing flies like no computer I have ever worked on.

I have about 10 programs open and no lag whatsoever, safari is a bit buggy with some websites and there's no java edition for 10.10 yet.

I'll be on Mavericks for some time to come, Yosemity has some ugly icons and unpolished edges that would annoy me.

I just noticed a new channel on my ATV called Apple Events. You can watch this, previous WWDC and other product launches. Did anyone notice if they showed it live? Would be pretty nifty to watch the next iPhone launch in September live instead of through a browser

From what I read it was shown live on ATV through the apple events channel.
