WWDC 2024 and iOS 18 Discussion

Curious about the AI stuff too. Hopefully not just on the iPhone 16 later this year.

Yeah will be interesting to see what they do. But I don’t think they’ll limit it to just the iPhone 16. Apple typically reserve hardware changes only as a reason to upgrade. Except in the iPhone 14? I think with the Dynamic Island thing. Which was software and hardware changes.

Skim the (many) comments for an idea what okes want for iOS 18.

All I’ve wanted forever and a day is a default global notification “template” which applies standard settings for all apps when Notifications are enabled.

It annoys the **** out of me that you need to go customise notifications for every app you install. I NEVER want sound on and I never want drop down alerts.

Once in a blue moon I want a Lock Screen notification but it’s few and far between so why on earth turn it all on by default.

And while they are at it make it all sync across iOS, iPadOS and MacOS.

My wishlist STILL includes the ability to have phrases with an apostrophe in it be auto suggested when I type (i.e. " I'm " or " I've ").

T9 dialing please!

Wtf is this thing people keep harping about?

If I want to call someone I use Siri 99% of the time and the rest I go their contact via Spotlight and then hit call on whatever platform.

I never ever go to the Dialer/Phone app and haven’t seen anyone else who does.

But it does do that?

And usually if you just keep typing it will fix it based on the context of the next word anyway.

This is not something I’ve needed to fix in many years.

It’s very rare for my to use Siri. Like.. once every three months. Maybe.

Having said that; once we make our move I’m considering switching over from Alexa smart speakers we have to HomePods. Will make more use of Siri then I think.
