WWE legend Vadar has died, aged 63, after undergoing heart surgery earlier this year.

Leon White, better known by his ring name of Big Van Vader, passed away on Monday after being diagnosed with a severe case of pneumonia, The Sun reports.

The WWE superstar revealed in May that he had successfully undergone heart surgery for the second time in two months.

It was understood that he was making good progress, but his son broke the news to social media on Thursday.

Alongside a picture of the icon, it read: “It is with a heavy heart to inform everyone that my father, Leon White, passed away on Monday night at approximately 7.25pm.”

Another photo then followed, which had the caption: “Around a month ago my father was diagnosed with a severe case of pneumonia.

“He fought extremely hard and clinically was making progress.

“Unfortunately, on Monday night his heart had enough and it was his time.”

RIP

Always thought it was crazy how a guy his size could do this.

Hansen unintentionally poked Vader's left eye with his thumb during their brawl, which caused the eye to pop out of its socket.Vader literally pushing his eye back in.

First time i have ever seen him without his mask, those where the days.

Long story short. Mate of mine was caught masturbating with my friends mom's underwear over his head at a birthday party. He was called Vader for the rest of his school career.

Although professional wrestling has been on television throughout the medium's existence, not all broadcasts were recorded, nor necessarily saved, and most promotions did not have a regular television presence until the 1970s. Many promotions taped over everything, so very little footage exists. The historical availability of individual, non-televised matches is also incomplete, as likely only the most significant bouts were recorded for posterity, and can be lost to time.

A number of factors have adversely affected the quality of some surviving tapes. For example, upon taking control of the World Championship Wrestling library, it was noted that the tapes were unlabeled and not categorized.[12] The condition of some WCW tapes is such that WWE could not air them on WWE Classics on Demand, or on the current WWE Network.
