Hi,

Does anyone have any recent experience with www.laptopsatcost.co.za? I have seen some old discussions which seems to indicate this is a legit site, even though pricing looks to good to be true. My one concern is that DNS Filter has flagged the site.

They have Payfast as a payment gateway or they claim to and Payfast require you to fill in a lot of documents and verify who you and your business actually is.

That being said this poses as a HUGE red flag for me. Added a random laptop to my cart and they making you pay an extra R1119.96 to use Payfast. This makes me question whether this Payfast option actually works or whether this added cost is to just distract you and push you towards paying via EFT where they steal your money or never heard back from you. You could reach out to Payfast and verify that this company is actually partnered with them.

60/62 5 stars on Hellopeter and majority of the reviewers have very little reviews is another red flag for me

If you buy a Dell with warranty, make sure you request an Owner /Asset Transfer. You need the Owners/ Company Name and their Postal Code. If they can't provide this then you know the laptop was stolen/written off as an insurance expense by big companies/fell of the back of a truck/sold when replaced by warranty/acquired by other questionable means.

However, if you go on Carbonite there are lots of sellers selling these laptops. Another well known seller is Nucleas Tech.

They probably push the Payfast fee on to the seller. And yes, generally they prefer EFT.

Most office laptops have a 4 year warranty included. Home laptops mainly just 1 year.
