Underwater Big Daddy Blasting was exhilarating but, it just so happens that the game stopped working for me.
Of course, I ran into a Big Daddy rage about it since I wanted to continue the game.

This is a friend's copy and he completed the game already, no problems. Judging from the disc, I'm assuming my 360 ran a few subtle scratches on his disc. Now, I'm unsure if these scratches were there when I got the disc or not, but presuming they weren't, is this a premonition of nasty things to come? Do I self induce RROD and get a fresh console? Do I whip out the brasso? Am I overreacting?

Details
Xbox Pro
Level at which I get stuck: Hephaestus
Solutions tried: Clear cache, clear game cache

Please keep the snore fest console war in the sticky.

it could be that your dvd rom is a different one than your buds ...... it happened where a friend of mine couldn't play 2 or 3 games which worked fine on my console (he had an older one). I dunno, could just be the disc though, try the toothpaste thingy (just search on the forum for it).

Does brasso clean the disks ? How do you self enduce a rrod ?

The wonderful feature of the Xbox360, scratching discs. I had the same problem, phoned microsoft, told them my Xbox is scratching my discs, they gave me a reference number and I took it in for a swop, so far no more scratching that I can see.

I do a drive mod that eliminates scratching. But if you wish to have it swapped out ... so be it :D

Be careful not to move the 360 whilst the disc is spinning. Seems like MSFT were stupid enough to not have disc locking

There are places that can polish the disk for you rather than trying to do it yourself.
Maestro?

The reason you have disc scratching in the earlier drive models is due to the fact that there is insufficient padding inside the DVD-ROM.

I correct that and also clean and lubricate the drive mechanism. Was just a suggestion!

I don't see the need of the hassle of a swap-out for this problem.

My 0.02c

@benitok - Sounds like something I should do. Now lately I can't keep my console on for more than ~4 hours before games start to jam up.
How much did the procedure cost, and, would you happen to have a number that I could utilise? Much obliged.

@maestro - From your experience, and taking into account my above mentioned comment, should I get my machine replaced or simply pop the hood and repair it myself.
However, if getting a replacement means getting a slightly quieter machine, I'd be inclined to get it replaced.

As for the disc, I'll try to read up some guides and do reparations myself, after I get my friends consent of course.

@ ZeroSplice ... if you have experience with fine components like the drive mechanism found in the typical DVD drive ... GO AHEAD :D

At the end of the day, its either the mod I mentioned above or a replacement drive in terms of repair.

So choice is yours!

Toothpaste is better - brasso is an abrasive so it makes minute scartches.

And yes - how to self enduce a RROD?

Not familiar with that one. . .

it is used to fix RROD temporarily then it RROD's again ! it melts the components inside the console  what you do is wrap a few towel tightly around the console so that no ventilation takes place thus the components willl melt (I dont recommend that u do this BTW)

Only when I want a new xbox :p

LOL ... I think its better if you send it to me for a professional repair.

I will debut my PREMIUM repair during the course of October.

To quote, "You've tried the rest, now come to the best". :D
