Puzzle Quest - don't buy the expansion not worth the points.
Pacman championship eddition
Ikaruga - good but hell difficult
 
Cool - been on wikipedia for the list and looking at Castle Crashers, got the demo but want MOAR!!!!.
 
kage - wouldnt you get the 360 for virtual friends (live is good afterall) and the ps3 for real friends (costs more - show you care, they can sell it and buy something useful)

it pains me to say this, but i was until recently a ps3 fanboi - until i played a game on the ps3 at the ea roadshow and saw it was k@ker than on the xbox. *whine*
 
Castle Crashers is what I would call and XBLa system Seller ;) Alien Hominid is also excellent.

Braid is good, but I'd rather hack limbs off :D

I also really like the European board games Catan & Carcasonne.
Exit is great if you like puzzles, and Gripshift is a lot of fun as well.

Oh and there's Soul Calibre which in my opinion is better value than the retail version of 4 ;)

Heck there's tons, I own over a dozen XBLA games, and there's at least another 2 dozen I wouldn't mind owning.

Just relax when you play this game and play as often as you can. At first you will not know whats going on or how its even possible to play this game. BUT....the game will start to change the neural pathways in your brain. You will experience this as a strange feeling of mugginess in the head, you will also hear a faint high pitched noise in the background and will taste and smells "freshly cut grass". Dont worry, this is normal. Once this stops, you will be able to play Ikaruga like a pro! Like that dude on youtube, who plays both ships on two player at the same time!!!
 
I feel very sorry for a lot of those games. There are so many a list retail games available that "not bad but not fundamentally world changing" games liek attack of the Xenos don't really get the sales they deserve.

I really hope MS manages to break into the mainstream this season. It's not about "the war" I'd really like to see the people these games are good for get access to them. (Keeps my hopes alive of one day becoming a full time XNA dev. Gears of Pong for FTW! ;) )

Oh Doobiwan, thanks for the sites for the Live points - the 3rd one you listed is a gem.
Just have to sort out my adsl now - still on hsdpa vodacom....so cant quite do gears yet... :p

gears on HSDPA is doable, just ask vodacom to be provisioned on the VPN.

I have played xbl on Mtn 3g / hsdpa for the last 2.5 years.

How do I go about it for them to be provisioned and what is the lag like on a game like gears etc.?

Lag is fine, i get a ping og 65 and have no probelms, just don't play between 8 and 9 at night because that is busy hour on the networks.

I play most games with no problems at all, only games where it should be a problem is dead or alive or other figting games.

Also if you have a HSDPU modem - the upload speed is > 1m
where regular hsdpa is 384k

You know you can create a second Live! Silver account on your 360 and pretend it's a US account ....
